Spring, from March through May, and fall, from September through November, offer the most comfortable weather for RV travel, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and fewer biting insects. Summer brings warm ocean water and family crowds but also peak humidity, thunderstorms, and the Atlantic hurricane season. Winter stays mild and quiet, making it a good shoulder choice for snowbirds, though cool evenings and occasional coastal storms can occur. Reservations fill earliest for spring weekends, summer holidays, and fall beach weather.

The park fronts more than a mile of Atlantic beach known for sand dollars, whelks, and fossilized shark teeth. The oceanfront campground and day-use lot provide direct beach access with paved RV parking nearby.
The Environmental Learning Center offers exhibits on the ACE Basin, local wildlife, and Lowcountry ecology. It is a good stop for rainy days and families traveling with kids, and the parking area fits standard tow vehicles and smaller motorhomes.
This flat 3.5 mile out-and-back trail leads through maritime forest to a Late Archaic shell midden overlooking Scott Creek. The trailhead is inside the Live Oak Campground side of the park with parking suitable for most tow vehicles.
Calm tidal creeks and salt marsh surround the park, offering kayak and paddleboard routes past oyster beds and wading birds. Launches near the campground accommodate rooftop and trailer launches for RV travelers bringing boats.
Paved interior roads and a connecting bike path link the two campgrounds, the beach, and the Learning Center. Flat terrain and light traffic make this a family friendly ride straight from an RV site.
Edisto sits at the edge of the ACE Basin, one of the largest undeveloped estuaries on the U.S. East Coast. Expect herons, egrets, ospreys, painted buntings in summer, and migrating shorebirds in spring and fall.
Surf fishing along the beach and crabbing from the tidal creeks are popular park activities. A South Carolina saltwater fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older.
This was the second time we rented the RV. Great experience. Very comfortable. Perfect for our experience. Would definitely rent again.

Very organized and helpful owner. Thank you!
JASON H. - Jan 2023
Kyle delivered his RV early and set up everything for our stay at a county park. Electric and water all hooked up and turned on, thermostat set at a comfy temp, and all beds made. Everything was clean. This was much appreciated after arriving from out of town with kids and dog. Enjoyed the RV and working with Kyle.
James D. - Dec 2025
Kyle was great. He met me earlier this year to see if our car seats would work. Then we booked his RV for Thanks Giving and it was awesome.

Edisto Beach State Park, SC, United States
The park sits at the south end of SC Highway 174 on Edisto Island, about 45 miles (roughly a one hour drive) from Charleston and about 90 miles (two hours) from Savannah, Georgia. From Interstate 95, travelers typically exit near Walterboro and follow US 17 and SC 174 southeast toward the coast; SC 174 is a scenic two lane road crossing low marsh causeways, so plan for slower speeds and watch for wildlife and narrow shoulders in larger rigs. There are no mountain passes or major tunnels, but low lying roads can flood during coastal storms and king tides, and some older causeway bridges have posted weight limits. The closest major airport for fly and rent trips is Charleston International Airport (CHS).
