Sweet Pond View II, Coleman Lantern Camper (2026)
Quiet, family get away or one-or two-person retreat just 10 minutes (six miles) from Hunting Island State Park. Located on the far side of beautiful and culturally historic St. Helena Island, this place is secluded enough to make you feel as if you are in a private paradise, yet also close enough to major tourist and travel destinations in Beaufort County to be a great choice for vacation or event lodging.
Missed out on a camping spot at Hunting Island? No problem. Leave your camper at home and come enjoy this one (save on gas, too). Have a proud young Marine graduating from boot camp at Parris Island? Bring the family and make memories here. Want to explore the SC Lowcountry and eat lots of good seafood? Make this your cozy homebase.
If you get here, you might not want to leave. The sun rises over the pond in the back, home to many roosting sea birds as well as a colony of Canada Geese, plus many, many migratory species that frequent bird feeders on the property. Enjoy your morning coffee/tea and drink in the beauty and peaceful setting.
The camper sleeps up to eight people, has an awning and mat for outdoor seating and is stocked with games and puzzles for the occasional rainy day or long family evening. AC and heat work great, as do the TV, and stereo system and speakers. Propane tank provides gas for cooking, but an induction burner provided in the kitchen and magnetic-bottomed cookware work faster and produce far less heat inside. Hooked up to water supply and with hot-water-heater for dishes and showering.
When you stay here, your access to an annual pass to Hunting Island State Park will yield reduced entry at the park entrance. Lots to see and do on the islands—in addition to the beach, farm stands, ice cream stops, local art. Penn Center Reconstruction Era US National Park historic site is less than 10 minutes away. You are five minutes from the fabulous Seaside Grill, which has live music on the patio on Wednesday nights, which are also “shrimp nights.”
Your responsibilities as a guest? Treat the camper, the grounds and the View Point neighborhood with the respect that you would if they were your own. Outdoor family time is great. But absolutely no loud partying, excessive alcohol consumption or music at full, concert-level volume allowed! Please plan to wind down any outdoor activities and any noise by 10 pm. Some of the neighbors live in the area full time, some are weekenders. All are quiet and keep to themselves. The neighbors (and the birds and geese) will thank you for your consideration.
