Fay Bainbridge State Park, WA, United States
From downtown Seattle, most RV travelers take the Washington State Ferry from Colman Dock to Bainbridge Island (about a 35-minute crossing), then drive roughly 8 miles north on Highway 305 and local roads to the park. Alternatively, RVs can reach Bainbridge Island by road via the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and the Kitsap Peninsula, about a 2-hour drive from Seattle without the ferry. The ferry has vehicle length and height considerations and charges by length, so measure the full rig including any tow, and arrive early in summer as vehicle space is first come, first served. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, roughly an hour and a half from the park depending on ferry timing.
Late June through early September offers the driest, warmest weather and the best beach conditions, with average highs in the 70s F and long daylight hours. Summer weekends fill quickly, so reservations well in advance are recommended for RV sites. Shoulder months like May, early June, and September bring fewer crowds, mild temperatures, and generally open facilities, though rain becomes more frequent. Winter stays are possible when the campground is open, but expect cool, wet conditions and shorter days.

The park's sandy and cobble saltwater beach stretches along Puget Sound and is the main attraction. Visitors walk the shoreline, beachcomb among driftwood, and take in views of Mount Baker and the Cascades on clear days.
Fay Bainbridge offers a hand-carry boat launch onto Puget Sound, making it a good put-in for kayaks and paddleboards. Paddlers should check tides, winds, and ferry traffic before heading out.
Day-use picnic areas, shelters, and a children's playground sit just back from the beach. It is a convenient stop for RV travelers wanting an easy lunch break with water views.
Driftwood fires are permitted on the beach in designated conditions, and the east-facing shoreline is popular for sunrise and for watching boat traffic on the Sound. Check current fire rules before lighting a fire.
Bainbridge Island is a well-known cycling destination with rolling rural roads connecting farms, wineries, and the ferry town of Winslow. Riders can stage from the park and follow quiet back roads south toward town.
The Bloedel Reserve is a 150-acre public garden and forest preserve a short drive from the park. Its curated trails through woodlands, meadows, and Japanese-inspired gardens make a strong rainy-day alternative to the beach.
Winslow, the island's main town near the ferry terminal, offers restaurants, shops, a farmers market, and the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. It is an easy short drive from the park for provisioning and dining.
Really awesome experience. Great little operation near the airport. Will definitely use them again!!
