Late spring through early fall, roughly May through October, is the most comfortable window, with green foliage, dry trails, and open access roads. September and early October bring peak fall color in southern Vermont and are popular with leaf peepers traveling the Route 7A corridor. Summer offers warm, humid days and long daylight for short walks under the pines. Winter visits are possible but access roads may be unplowed or icy, and nearby campgrounds are seasonally closed.

The preserve protects a stand of tall eastern white pines recognized as a National Natural Landmark. Short informal footpaths let visitors walk beneath the canopy and view some of the largest pines in southern Vermont. nps.gov/subjects/nnlandmarks/site.htm?Site=FISC-VT
The towering, straight-trunked pines and mossy forest floor make Fisher Scott a quiet spot for forest and macro photography. Soft morning and late afternoon light filtering through the high canopy is especially photogenic.
Mature conifer stands in southern Vermont host woodpeckers, warblers, and raptors that favor tall pines. The preserve's quiet, low-traffic setting is well suited to listening and spotting forest species.
Historic Route 7A links Arlington, Manchester, and Bennington through classic Vermont countryside and is a scenic companion to a visit. The corridor is popular in fall for foliage touring and gives RV travelers access to villages, farm stands, and overlooks.
The Batten Kill River flows through Arlington and is one of New England's most famous trout streams. Public access points along Route 7A let anglers cast for wild brown and brook trout within minutes of the preserve.
The Green Mountain National Forest lies just east of Arlington and offers extensive hiking, including sections of the Appalachian and Long Trails. RVers can combine a stop at Fisher Scott with trailheads and picnic areas in the national forest. fs.usda.gov/r09/gmfl
The nearby village of Arlington is known for its covered bridge, Norman Rockwell connections, and small-town New England character. It provides services, dining, and cell coverage close to the preserve.
Great experience, clean RV. Brandon was great and very easy going.

Brandon was an exceptional host. Everything was ready to go and he explained the rental thoroughly as it was my first time renting. Very professional and a pleasure to work with. If you're looking to rent a camper, Brandon is the one to see.

Arrived at the campsite, and was completely amazed at the setup. Griddle, two burner camper stove, two portable tables with table tops, cooking accessories, plastic ware, coffee pot (with coffee), two chairs and table by the campfire. Absolutely amazing! All my family members staying at the campsite were just as amazed and commented on the setup. Michele & Will completely knocked it out of the ballpark. It was in even the smallest of details. Campfire color packets, marshmallow toasting forks, and table top candles. That was just on the outside. Inside the camper was clean & spacious. Beds were ready to sleep on. 100% percent setup inside and out. They even coordinated with the campground to set everything up the day prior to my arrival! Michele walked me through the camper and explained everything in detail. She mentioned more than once to contact her if I had any questions. We had initially communicated a year ago just after the booking, and kept in communication right up to the initial walk through at the campsite. Don't know what more to say other than my experience with Michell and this rental far exceeded my expectations. Family members were "WOW'ed" just as much!

Our first time renting or using an RV and it was an absolutely wonderful experience thanks to Michele and Will. Michele was quick to communicate and went the extra mile to make sure we had a good experience since we were driving in from several states away. Even for a few days which were in the mid-90s were a breeze thanks to the great A/C. Our kids had a great time. Definitely will look to use them again the next time we're in Upstate NY!

Fisher Scott Memorial Pines Natural Area, VT, United States
The natural area lies in Arlington, Vermont, reached via U.S. Route 7 and Vermont Route 7A in Bennington County. From Bennington it is about a 15 mile, 20 minute drive north, and from Manchester Center it is roughly 10 miles, about 15 minutes south. Albany, New York is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, about 50 miles southwest, roughly a 1 hour drive. RV drivers should note that the final approach uses narrow rural town roads with tight turns, low-hanging branches, and limited turnaround space, so large motorhomes and long trailers may prefer to park at a nearby pull-off and walk in rather than drive to the preserve itself.
