Best time to visit Fjord-du-Saguenay National Park

Late June through early September offers the warmest weather, fully open campgrounds, and the best conditions for sea kayaking and beluga watching near Baie-Sainte-Marguerite. July and August are peak months with reliable access but busier trails and campsites. September brings cooler nights, fewer crowds, and strong fall colour along the fjord walls, making it a favourite shoulder season for RV travel. May and early June are quieter but blackflies peak in June and some services open gradually.

How to get to Fjord-du-Saguenay National Park

The main Baie-Éternité sector is roughly 2 hours north of Quebec City via Highway 175 and Route 170, and about 1 hour from Saguenay (Chicoutimi). From Tadoussac, the Baie-du-Moulin-à-Baude sector is a short drive, and travellers arriving from the south on Route 138 use the free Tadoussac-Baie-Sainte-Catherine ferry across the Saguenay River, which can see long summer wait times with RVs. RV drivers should expect steep grades and winding descents on Route 170 into the fjord valleys and use low gear. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Bagotville (YBG), with Quebec City (YQB) offering more rental options.
