Spring (March through May) and fall (October through November) are the best times to visit, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and fewer biting insects than the summer months. Summer brings hot, humid weather and higher mosquito and gnat activity in the marshes, though it remains popular for fishing and boating. Winter is mild and well suited to touring the historic site and earthworks, with cooler nights that are comfortable for RV camping.
