Late June through early September is the best window for RV travel, when the campground is open, beach temperatures are most comfortable, and roads are clear of snow. July and August bring the warmest weather and longest daylight but also the busiest reservation demand, so booking ahead is advised. Shoulder periods in June and early September offer quieter sites and cooler nights, though coastal fog is common. Outside of the summer operating season the campground is closed and services are not available.

The park's sheltered sandy beach fronts a tidal lagoon that warms up on sunny days, making it one of the more swimmable beaches on the south coast. It is directly accessible from the day-use parking area, which accommodates vehicles and RVs.
Short walking paths connect the campground, beach, and surrounding meadows and coastline. Trails are generally flat with sea views and suitable for casual walkers.
A picnic area with tables and shelters overlooks the beach and lagoon. It is a practical lunch stop for travellers driving the Burin Peninsula loop.
The shoreline offers opportunities to explore rocks, driftwood, and intertidal life along Fortune Bay. Footwear with grip is recommended on wet rocks.
The historic fishing town of Grand Bank lies a short drive from the park and features restored Banks-fishery architecture and the Provincial Seamen's Museum. It makes a convenient half-day trip from the campground.
The town of Fortune is the departure point for the passenger ferry to the French islands of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. RVs are left at the Fortune terminal while passengers travel on foot.
Driving loops around the Burin Peninsula's coastline reveal dramatic headlands, fishing coves, and seabird habitat. Pullouts along Route 210 and its side roads offer photo stops.

Frenchman's Cove Provincial Park, NL, Canada
The park lies on Route 213 off Route 210 (the Burin Peninsula Highway) on Newfoundland's south coast. From St. John's it is roughly 360 km, about a 4 to 4.5 hour drive west and then south via the Trans-Canada Highway and Route 210, while Marystown is about 40 km away and Grand Bank is under 20 km. RV drivers should expect long rural stretches with limited services, rolling hills, exposed coastal winds, and moose activity at dawn and dusk, so daylight driving is recommended. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travellers is St. John's International Airport (YYT).
