Late June through August offers the warmest water and the most reliable weather for boating, swimming, and lakeside RV camping. July and early August are peak season, so weekends and the July 4 holiday fill quickly and reservations are strongly advised. Late May, early June, and September are quieter shoulder windows with cooler nights, fewer crowds, and good fishing, though spring winds and afternoon thunderstorms are common.

Glendo Reservoir is the centerpiece of the park and one of Wyoming's most popular flatwater boating destinations. Multiple boat ramps serve motorboats, sailboats, and personal watercraft, and large parking areas accommodate trucks with trailers and tow vehicles.
Glendo is widely known for its walleye, yellow perch, and rainbow trout fisheries. Anglers fish from boats and shoreline points across the reservoir, and a Wyoming fishing license is required.
Sandy Beach is a popular swim and picnic area on the reservoir's shoreline. The wide, gently sloped beach is family-friendly and has nearby parking suitable for RVs and tow rigs.
Two Moon and Whiskey Gulch are among the developed shoreline camping areas with sites suited to RVs. Many sites offer reservoir views, vault toilets, and access to boat ramps.
The park has a network of trails open to hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding across rolling terrain above the reservoir. Trails range from short shoreline strolls to longer ridge routes with panoramic water views.
Eastern Wyoming's high plains setting and low light pollution make Glendo an excellent spot for stargazing from camp. Clear summer nights are common and the open shoreline provides wide horizon views.
The reservoir and surrounding prairie support pronghorn, mule deer, waterfowl, raptors, and shorebirds. Spring and fall migrations bring increased birdlife along the shoreline.

Glendo State Park, WY, United States
Glendo State Park sits just off Interstate 25 at the town of Glendo, about 100 miles north of Cheyenne and roughly 75 miles southeast of Casper, both around a 90-minute to two-hour drive. The route is mostly flat interstate with no tunnels or steep mountain passes, but high plains crosswinds are frequent and can be hazardous for tall RVs and travel trailers, so check forecasts before towing. Cheyenne Regional Airport and Casper-Natrona County International Airport are the closest commercial airports for fly-and-rent RV trips. Park access roads include some unpaved and washboarded sections to outlying campgrounds, so drive slowly with larger rigs.
