October through April offers the most comfortable RV travel weather in South Texas, with mild days, cool nights, and lower humidity than the summer months. Spring brings wildflowers along the San Antonio River and is popular for living history events in Goliad. Summer is hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so RVers should plan for full hookups and shaded sites. Late summer and early fall fall within the Gulf Coast hurricane season, and travelers should monitor tropical weather before heading to the park.

Just across the San Antonio River from the state park, Presidio La Bahía is a historic Spanish frontier fort considered one of the world's finest examples of its kind. The site has seen Spanish, Mexican, and Texan soldiers garrisoned within its fortified walls and is one of the most fought-over forts in Texas history. Presidio La Bahía sits a quarter mile south of the park on U.S. highways 183 and 77A. nps.gov/places/presidio-la-bahia.htm
A paved multi-use trail connects the state park with sites in town and along the San Antonio River. The route is flat and family friendly, passing interpretive markers tied to El Camino Real de los Tejas. Trailhead parking accommodates standard tow vehicles and smaller RVs. tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/goliad
The park provides access to a quiet stretch of the San Antonio River for canoeing and kayaking. Calm currents make it suitable for beginners, and rentals can be arranged in the area. Watch for wildlife including turtles, herons, and the occasional alligator gar. tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/goliad
Anglers can fish from the riverbank without a state license while inside the park, targeting catfish, bass, and sunfish. Visitors can take advantage of camping, picnicking, hiking, fishing, swimming, and nature study throughout the park. Bring shade and insect repellent, especially in summer. tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/goliad

Shaded picnic sites and open lawns near the river make the park a relaxed stop for RV travelers. The four sites that comprise the park have amenities such as restrooms and picnic areas, plus outdoor recreation opportunities on trails and water. Goliad State Park & Historic Site, TX, United States
The park sits roughly 90 miles southeast of San Antonio, about 95 miles north of Corpus Christi, and roughly 150 miles southwest of Houston, with most travel on US 59, US 77, US 181, and US 183. To reach the park, travel about three-quarters of a mile south of Goliad on U.S. Highway 183 and 77A to Park Road 6. Routes are generally flat South Texas highways with no mountain passes or tunnels, but RVers should watch for low rural overpasses, narrow shoulders, and crosswinds on open prairie. Corpus Christi International Airport and San Antonio International Airport are the closest options for fly-and-rent RV trips.
