Late June through August is the prime window for RV travel, when warm Cariboo Plateau days, open campgrounds, and reliable lake access align with peak swimming and boating conditions. July and August bring the busiest crowds, so weekends book up quickly. Shoulder months of May, early June, and September offer cooler weather, fewer visitors, and easier site availability, though overnight temperatures can drop near freezing. Winter visits are limited since services wind down and roads can be snow-packed.

Swimming is one of the top activities at Green Lake, with designated roped-off areas at each day-use and campground location. The sand and pebble beaches are shallow and warm, and no lifeguards are on duty in BC Parks. bcparks.ca/green-lake-park/
Green Lake is a popular motorized boating destination on the Cariboo Plateau. Powerboating is popular on the lake and waterskiing conditions are ideal. bcparks.ca/green-lake-park/
Anglers can try for rainbow trout from shore or boat at Green Lake. An annual restocking program of rainbow trout provides fair to good fishing opportunities, though fishing is locally described as challenging, and a dark flatfish lure is suggested. Anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence. bcparks.ca/green-lake-park/
A short self-guided walk highlights the ecology of the park near the campground. There is a self-guided 1 km interpretative trail at Sunset View campground. bcparks.ca/green-lake-park/
The park supports diverse Cariboo wildlife viewing close to campgrounds. The area is fairly abundant with moose and deer, with limited numbers of black bear, coyote, squirrels, and marmots, while the west end of the lake attracts waterfowl as a nesting and migratory resting area. Owls and golden eagles can also be seen. bcparks.ca/green-lake-park/
Visitors can arrange horseback rides through an authorized operator at Emerald Bay. No horseback riding is allowed in the park except for guided trail rides at Emerald Bay, where the guide operator is operating under permit with BC Parks. bcparks.ca/green-lake-park/
Cyclists can explore park roads and nearby rangeland routes. There are numerous cattle trails in the area outside the park that can be used for cycling, bicycles must keep to roadways inside the park, and bicycle helmets are mandatory in British Columbia. E-bikes are not allowed on the trails within Green Lake Park and are restricted to park roads and areas where motorized use is permitted. bcparks.ca/green-lake-park/

This was the second time we’ve booked Lilypad and we will very likely book this trailer next summer should the opportunity arise. Wendy and Michael are a pleasure to deal with and super accommodating. Also they were very prompt with drop off and pick up. Michael got us all set up with a great view of the lake.

Green Lake Provincial Park, BC, Canada
Access is approximately 16 km northeast of 70 Mile House off Highway 97 along North Bonaparte Road, or about 18 km south of Highway 24 at Lone Butte via Watch Lake Road, and the closest communities are 70 Mile House, Lone Butte, and 100 Mile House. From Kamloops the drive is roughly 1.5 to 2 hours north on Highway 97, and from Vancouver plan on about 6 hours. RV drivers should expect narrow, winding secondary roads with gravel sections near the park, occasional steep grades on the approach, and open-range cattle, so reduce speed and allow extra stopping distance. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Kamloops (YKA).
