Late May through early September is the prime window, with warm lake temperatures, full campground operations, and easy boat and swim access. July and August bring the largest crowds and the liveliest scene around the Iowa Great Lakes, so reserve RV sites early. June and September are excellent shoulder months for cooler nights, fewer bugs, and easier weekend availability. Fall color peaks in early to mid October, though many park services wind down after the main camping season.

Several miles of interconnected hiking trails loop through the park's oak woodlands and along the West Lake Okoboji shoreline. Routes are mostly flat with gentle grades and connect the campground, lodge, and picnic areas. Trailheads have parking suitable for tow vehicles after dropping the RV at camp.
The park's lakefront offers a sandy swim area on one of Iowa's clearest natural lakes. Shallow entry makes it family-friendly, with picnic tables and shade nearby. Day-use parking accommodates vehicles towing small trailers.
A boat ramp inside the park provides direct access to West Lake Okoboji, known for walleye, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, and bluegill. The lake is one of only a handful of true blue-water glacial lakes in the United States. Ramp parking has pull-through space for trucks and trailers.
The historic stone lodge, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, anchors the park's main picnic area. Visitors can tour the grounds, reserve the lodge for gatherings, and enjoy shaded tables and grills. The parking area is close to the lodge and handles larger vehicles.
A paved multi-use trail network connects Gull Point to Milford, Arnolds Park, Okoboji, and Spirit Lake. Cyclists and walkers can ride directly from the park into neighboring lake towns for dining, museums, and the Arnolds Park Amusement Park. Bike racks on RVs make this an easy in-park activity.
Pikes Point, a smaller day-use sister park on the north shore of West Lake Okoboji, is a short drive from Gull Point and offers another sandy swim beach. It pairs well with a midday break from the campground. Day-use lots accept tow vehicles.
The park's wooded peninsula attracts migrating waterfowl, songbirds, and raptors, with pelicans and gulls common on the lake. Quiet early mornings along the shoreline trails offer the best viewing. Spotting scopes and binoculars are worth packing from the RV.
Great experience with first time using RVezy, pretty much cover everything you almost needed for camping. Very comfortable and roomy space for family of 4 plus 2 dogs.

Gull Point State Park, IA, United States
The park sits off 125th Avenue on the west side of West Lake Okoboji, about 10 minutes from Milford and 15 minutes from Spirit Lake via US Highway 71. Sioux Falls, SD is roughly 90 miles (about 1 hour 45 minutes) northwest, Sioux City is about 100 miles (2 hours) southwest, and Des Moines is roughly 180 miles (3 hours) south via US 71. The approach roads are flat Iowa highways with no tunnels, mountain passes, or steep grades, though the final county roads into the park are narrow and include a few tight turns near the entrance. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is Sioux Falls Regional (FSD); Des Moines International (DSM) is a larger alternative.
