Late June through early September offers the warmest weather and full campground services, with hot, dry days ideal for swimming and lake activities. July and August are peak season, so sites book out months in advance. May, June, and September are good shoulder-season windows for RV travelers seeking smaller crowds and cooler temperatures, though some amenities may be reduced. Due to popularity and size of the campground, there is a maximum stay policy of seven nights per calendar year in this park.

The sandspit campground provides direct walk-on access to warm swim beaches on both the east and west sides of the peninsula. Osoyoos Lake is one of the warmest freshwater lakes in Canada, ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and floating. Visitors should be aware that extreme caution is required when swimming or walking in the shallow water surrounding the park due to dangerous undercurrents and steep drop-offs around the exposed sandbar, and children should be supervised at all times. bcparks.ca/swiws-park/
A short self-guided loop through one of the Okanagan's few remaining wetland ecosystems. The marsh area and self-guided interpretive trail are important features of the park, and the marsh area of the park is home to a variety of wildlife. Early morning is best for bird and turtle sightings. bcparks.ca/swiws-park/
The park's wetlands support an unusual concentration of at-risk species. Blue-listed species include the Western small-footed myotis bat, barn owl, spadefoot toad and painted turtle, and the tiger salamander is a red-listed species that calls the park home. Bring binoculars and stay on designated paths. bcparks.ca/swiws-park/
Launch non-motorized craft directly from the campground shoreline for easy exploration of the lake's calm morning waters. Rentals are available in the town of Osoyoos, 2 km north. Afternoon winds can pick up quickly on the lake.
Located just north of the park, this interpretive centre showcases Canada's only semi-arid desert ecosystem via a boardwalk and guided tours. It is an ideal complement to the park's own wetland trail and includes RV-friendly parking. A short drive from the campground via Highway 97.
A winery and Indigenous cultural attraction operated by the Osoyoos Indian Band, about 10 minutes from the park. Visitors can tour exhibits on Syilx/Okanagan culture and the surrounding desert environment. Large parking areas accommodate RVs during the day.
A scenic viewpoint on Highway 3 east of Osoyoos offering panoramic views of the lake, town, and park sandspit below. The climb from town involves steep grades and switchbacks, so drivers should use lower gears and check brakes. Pullouts are available at the summit.
First time renting a camper and it could not have gone smoother. The couple minor issues that came up were fixed by Chester quickly and he kept an open line for questions and advice.

Wonderful hosts, great communication and spacious! Christine and Mike were very kind and easy to communicate with. They had the RV set up prior to our check in and even set out an outdoor carpet and chairs for us. Everything worked great. Would definitely rent again!

Haynes Point Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park sits just south of the town of Osoyoos, about a 5-minute drive via Highway 97 and 32nd Avenue. From Kelowna, allow roughly 1 hour 45 minutes (125 km) south on Highway 97; from Vancouver, expect about 4.5 to 5 hours (400 km) via Highway 3, which includes the Hope-Princeton route with mountain passes and steep grades that RV drivers should plan for carefully. Winter driving on Highway 3 often requires chains or winter tires, and strong crosswinds can affect high-profile RVs in the Okanagan Valley. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Kelowna International Airport (YLW).
