Late June through August is peak season, with warm days, swimmable Lake Huron water by mid-summer, and all campground amenities open. Early September offers cooler nights, thinner crowds, and easier reservations for RV travelers. Mid-May and late September are good shoulder windows, though Lake Huron remains cold and some facilities may run on reduced service. Winter brings heavy snow and lake-effect conditions that limit RV use.

The park's signature attraction is over a mile of sandy Lake Huron beach backed by low dunes. It offers easy swimming, rock hunting for Petoskey and fossil stones, and wide views of the horizon. A short walk from the day-use parking area keeps it accessible for RV travelers.
A network of roughly 4.5 miles of hiking trails winds through pine and hardwood forest between the campground and the shoreline. The paths are mostly flat and well shaded, making them family-friendly. Trailheads are reached directly from the campground loops and day-use area.
The day-use picnic area sits near the beach with tables, grills, a reservable shelter, and a playground. It is a convenient lunch stop for RVers driving the US-23 Sunrise Coast. Parking accommodates larger rigs in the main lot.
Forty Mile Point Lighthouse is about 6 miles north of the park and open seasonally as a museum with a historic keeper's dwelling and the wreck of the Joseph S. Fay. It pairs well with a Hoeft beach day. The site has a gravel lot that fits most motorhomes and trailers.
Just outside Rogers City, this conservation area offers quiet hiking loops along the Trout River and interpretive signage. It is a good rainy-day alternative when the Lake Huron beach is windblown. Parking is paved and RV-accessible.
The Port of Rogers City waterfront has a sandy swim beach, lighthouse view, shops, and restaurants within a short drive of the park. It is a popular sunset stop and fueling point. Street parking along the harbor accommodates smaller RVs and tow vehicles.
About 20 minutes west of Hoeft, Ocqueoc Falls is the Lower Peninsula's largest waterfall and features an accessible viewing area and swimming hole. A paved universal-access path leads from the parking lot to the falls. The trailhead lot is paved and RV-friendly.
In winter the park's hiking trails are ungroomed but open for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Day-use parking stays plowed near the entrance. RV camping is not available in winter, so this is a day-trip activity only.
Karen and Michael were great to work with and communicating with them was easy and their response time was excellent! Highly recommend renting from them.

Karen and Mike were wonderful. This was the first time we rented an RV and it worked out well for our camp trip as it was cool and rainy. If we ever find ourselves in need of an RV for our family camp trips, we will definitely see if their RV is available.

Hoeft State Park, MI, United States
The park sits on US-23 about 5 miles northwest of Rogers City, roughly 45 minutes (40 miles) north of Alpena and about 1 hour 45 minutes (90 miles) southeast of the Mackinac Bridge. From Detroit it is about a 4.5 hour drive north via I-75 and M-33 or US-23. US-23 is a flat, two-lane coastal highway that is RV-friendly with no major grades or tunnels, though drivers should watch for deer and winter lake-effect snow squalls. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is Alpena County Regional Airport (APN), with larger service through Pellston Regional Airport (PLN) or MBS International near Saginaw.
