Late June through early September delivers the warmest, driest weather, longest daylight, and best conditions for shoreline use, paddling, and pier fishing. May, early June, and September are strong shoulder-season choices for RV travel, with cooler temperatures, fewer campers, and easier reservations. October through April brings frequent rain, soggy trails, and short days, though the park remains a viable mild-weather destination for self-contained RVs. Holiday weekends in summer book up quickly, so reserve well in advance.

Illahee's fishing pier extends into Port Orchard Bay and is the park's signature feature for anglers. It is a popular spot for salmon, flounder, and crabbing in season, with parking close to the pier approach.
The park protects a stretch of pebble and sand beach on Port Orchard Bay perfect for low-tide exploration. Visitors can watch boat traffic, look for shellfish and shorebirds, and enjoy views of Bainbridge Island across the water.
A single-lane boat launch and offshore mooring buoys give RV travelers towing small boats or kayaks direct access to Puget Sound. The sheltered cove is well suited to paddling and small craft.
Short forested trails connect the upper campground and day-use area to the beach through stands of large Douglas fir and Pacific yew. The route is shaded but includes a steep grade down the bluff.
The bluff-top day-use area has picnic tables, kitchen shelters, and grassy lawn under tall trees. It is a convenient lunch stop for RVers exploring the Kitsap Peninsula.
Outdoor lawn games are set up in the day-use area for casual recreation. Bring your own equipment for volleyball and use the fixed horseshoe pits.
The combination of saltwater, beach, and mature conifer forest makes Illahee a productive spot for observing seabirds, bald eagles, and marine life. Quiet morning visits offer the best chance of sightings.

Illahee State Park, WA, United States
Illahee State Park sits in East Bremerton on Sylvan Way, about 5 miles from downtown Bremerton and roughly 20 miles (around 30 to 40 minutes) from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge via WA-16 and WA-3. From Seattle, most RVers either take the long land route south through Tacoma (about 60 to 70 miles) or use the Washington State Ferries (Seattle to Bremerton, or Edmonds to Kingston), noting that ferry fares are charged by vehicle length and tall or long RVs may face restrictions. The access road into the park is narrow and includes a steep, winding descent toward the beach area, so larger rigs should stage carefully and use the upper campground loop. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA), about 35 miles east.
