Late June through early September offers the warmest, driest weather for swimming, paddling, and cycling the lakeside loop. July and August are the peak months and campsites fill quickly on weekends, so midweek stays are recommended. May, June, and September are quieter shoulder-season options with cool nights and fewer bugs. Winter visits are possible for day use, but expect cold, wet weather typical of the BC coast.

The Inland Lake Loop is a 13 km accessible trail circling the lake. The park includes a low-barrier, although not entirely wheelchair accessible, loop trail with crushed-limestone surface and elevated boardwalks. The grade is mostly flat with minimal grades. bcparks.ca/inland-lake-park/
Inland Lake is an ideal flatwater paddling destination. There are opportunities for canoeing and kayaking in this park. There are no rentals available in the park. The nearest available rentals are located in Powell River approximately 10 km away. bcparks.ca/inland-lake-park/
The lake is stocked for seasonal trout fishing from shore or small boat. Spring is said to be the best fishing time after April 1. Use single barbless hook from April 1 to October 31, with no retention of cutthroat trout over 40 cm. Please note that fishing is not allowed from November 1 to March 31. bcparks.ca/inland-lake-park/
Cyclists can ride the gentle lakeside loop on a mix of trail and boardwalk. Bicycles with electric assist motors (e-bikes) are permitted on signed or designated trails within Inland Lake Park, provided they meet the definitions and criteria for e-bike use as outlined in the BC Parks cycling guidelines. bcparks.ca/inland-lake-park/
The warm, calm waters of Inland Lake are popular for summer swimming, though there is very little beach area and no designated or roped-off swimming area. Water temperature is relatively warm during the summer months. There are no lifeguards on duty in BC Parks. bcparks.ca/inland-lake-park/
Motorized boating is permitted on the lake with strict power limits. There are opportunities for canoeing and boating with motors less than 10 hp, making the lake ideal for quiet small-boat use. bcparks.ca/inland-lake-park/
The boardwalk sections and forested shoreline make for excellent birding and photography. Elevated boardwalks around the Inland Lake Trail provide excellent scenic viewing opportunities. bcparks.ca/inland-lake-park/

We loved our trip up Vancouver Island, and across to Quadra and Cortes islands too. Having an RV , along with our bikes (we brought our hitch bike rack), meant we had a lot of flexibility. Our little dogs had a blast too. At the pickup, Jessica explained how everything worked, and urged us to reach out with any questions during our trip. When we did have a question, she was very quick to respond. Returning the RV was also very easy, and Jessica was flexible with the time. She appreciated that we returned the RV clean. Would absolutely recommend Jessica and her RV to anyone considering a trip on Vancouver Island.

Inland Lake Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park sits about 10 km north of Powell River via Haslam Street and a short gravel access road. Turn up a short but steep hill on Haslam Street north of Cranberry Lake, turn left onto the gravel road, continue for about 5 km, then turn right at the Haywire Bay and Inland Lake intersection. Reaching Powell River from the Lower Mainland requires two BC Ferries crossings (Horseshoe Bay to Langdale, then Earls Cove to Saltery Bay), so RVers should build ferry times and vehicle length fees into the trip. Powell River Airport serves fly-and-rent travellers, and RV drivers should be cautious on the short, steep park access hill and the final gravel road.
