Spring (April and May) and fall (late September through early November) offer the most comfortable temperatures for camping, hiking, and lake activities, with mild days and cooler nights. Summer is hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, but it remains the peak season for boating and swimming on Wheeler Lake. Winter is mild compared to much of the country and is a good shoulder season for RVers seeking quiet campgrounds and bird-watching opportunities at nearby Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge. Holiday weekends and summer weekends fill quickly, so reservations well in advance are recommended.

Mike was a great host. He did everything he said he would, the camper was very clean and well stocked with essentials. I highly recommend this.
