July and August bring peak crowds, heat in the 90s Fahrenheit, and occasional severe thunderstorms, so reservations are recommended. Shoulder-season campers should watch for strong Kansas winds and cool overnight lows, while winter visits are quiet but many amenities and showerhouses are closed or reduced.
