Summer months bring the warmest water and full marina services but also the busiest weekends, so reservations are recommended. Shoulder season visits in April, May, September, and October offer milder temperatures, fewer crowds, and excellent fishing. Winter is quiet with most campgrounds closed and cold nights that can dip below freezing.

Kerr Lake offers 50,000 acres of open water for motorboating, sailing, jet skiing, and water skiing. Public boat ramps are located at each of the seven recreation areas, with trailer parking suitable for tow vehicles.
Kerr Lake is one of the top bass fisheries in the Southeast and hosts regular tournaments. Anglers target largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish from the shoreline or by boat, with fishing piers at several recreation areas.
Designated swim beaches are open seasonally at Satterwhite Point, Bullocksville, County Line, Henderson Point, and Hibernia. Sandy shorelines and shallow entry make these popular family stops during summer.
Satterwhite Point is the largest and most developed area in the park, with the main campground, marina, beach, and visitor contact station. It serves as a natural base for RV travelers exploring the lake.
Bullocksville offers a quieter campground tucked into hardwood forest on the lake's southern shore. Amenities include a boat ramp, swim beach, picnic shelters, and a short nature trail.
Hibernia sits on a peninsula reaching into the lake and offers shaded campsites, a boat ramp, and a beach. It is popular with anglers who want quick water access from their RV site.
Short, easy trails wind through the pine and hardwood forest at several recreation areas, including the Big Poplar Nature Trail at Satterwhite Point. These loops are suitable for families and casual walkers.
The lake and surrounding woodlands attract bald eagles, ospreys, herons, and migratory waterfowl. Early morning paddles and shoreline walks offer the best viewing opportunities.
Elliot was awesome. Trailer was clean, well appointed, and in good condition. I would recommend Elliot and his trailer!

"Story" was a great RV and Joshua was an amazing host. This was our first time traveling in an RV and Joshua was very patient in answering all of our questions. He provided a very thorough orientation. The RV was fully equipped with everything we needed including kitchen/bath items, camping chairs, linens, etc. Everything was clean, well maintained, and exactly as described. We were able to boondock without any issues. Communication with Joshua was amazing and I highly recommend this rental.

Kerr Lake State Recreation Area, NC, United States
The park sits just off I-85 near Henderson, North Carolina, about 45 minutes (45 miles) north of Raleigh and roughly 1 hour 45 minutes (100 miles) south of Richmond, Virginia. Most access roads are flat, paved Piedmont highways with no tunnels or mountain grades, making the approach friendly to large Class A motorhomes and travel trailers. Watch for narrow two-lane roads and low-hanging tree branches on the final approach to individual recreation areas like Bullocksville and Kimball Point. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), about an hour south.
