Late May through September is the prime window, with warm days suited to swimming at the delta, paddling, and hiking the bluff-top trails. July and August bring the busiest weekends, especially boater traffic in the delta bay, so weekday visits are calmer for RV day trips. September and early October offer cooler weather, reduced crowds, and fall color along the river bluffs. Spring trout season opens the river to anglers, though trails can be muddy after thaw.
Park open for winter day use; some interior roads and trails may be snow-covered.

The delta is a sandy bay at the mouth of the Kinnickinnic River where it enters the St. Croix, popular for swimming, wading, and boat-in beach days. The bay is accessible by water and is the visual centerpiece of the park.
This bluff-top hiking loop traces the edge of the river valley with overlooks down to the Kinnickinnic and St. Croix confluence. The trail passes through restored prairie and oak savanna habitat.
The Kinnickinnic is a nationally recognized Class I trout stream supporting wild brown trout. Anglers access the river from park trails leading down into the valley.
Kayakers and canoeists float the final miles of the Kinnickinnic River down to the delta on the St. Croix. Most paddlers shuttle in from upstream put-ins outside the park.
The St. Croix National Scenic Riverway forms the park's western boundary and draws powerboaters, anglers, and sailors. The delta bay is a common anchorage for day boaters.
Day-use picnic areas with tables and grills sit near the bluff-top parking lots with views over the river valley. The overlooks are a short walk from the main lot and accessible for most visitors.
In winter the hiking trails convert to ungroomed ski and snowshoe routes through quiet woods and prairie. Trails are not groomed, so conditions depend on recent snowfall.

Kinnickinnic State Park, WI, United States
The park is in western Wisconsin near River Falls, about a 35 to 45 minute drive (roughly 30 miles) southeast of Saint Paul, Minnesota, via I-94 and County Road F. From River Falls it is about 7 miles via Highway 35 and County F. The roads in are paved rural two-lanes with some hills and tight turns near the park entrance, so larger Class A motorhomes should take the route slowly and watch for low overhanging branches on the access road. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent is Minneapolis-Saint Paul International (MSP), about 45 miles west.
