Lake Cumberland is one of the largest reservoirs in the eastern United States and is widely known as a houseboating destination. The park's State Dock marina offers slips, rentals, and fuel, making it easy to launch a day on the water from the campground.
Lake Cumberland is famous for its trophy striped bass fishery, along with walleye, crappie, and largemouth bass. Anglers can launch from the park marina or fish from shoreline points within the resort.
A short forested loop trail inside the park provides views of Lake Cumberland through oak and hickory woodland. It is a good leg-stretcher accessible directly from the lodge and cottage area.
The park operates a seasonal swimming pool complex with a waterslide and kids' area near the lodge. It runs from late spring through early fall and is a popular family stop after a day on the lake.
Wolf Creek Dam, which created Lake Cumberland on the Cumberland River, sits a short drive from the park and includes an overlook and visitor information about the dam and tailwater trout fishery. The tailwater below the dam is nationally known for trout fishing.
Cumberland Falls, about 90 minutes east, is a 68-foot waterfall on the Cumberland River and a highlight of any regional RV trip. The park is famous for its moonbow, visible on clear nights around the full moon.
The Daniel Boone National Forest surrounds much of the Lake Cumberland region and offers additional hiking, fishing, and scenic driving. The London Ranger District provides trails, campgrounds, picnic areas, and water recreation centered around Laurel River Lake, Lake Cumberland, and two Kentucky Wild Rivers, the Cumberland River and Rockcastle River. fs.usda.gov/r08/danielboone

Lake Cumberland State Park, KY, United States
The park is off US 127 near Jamestown, Kentucky, about 90 miles south of Lexington (roughly a 1.5 to 2 hour drive) and about 115 miles southeast of Louisville (around 2.5 hours). From Nashville, Tennessee it is roughly 140 miles, or about a 2.5 hour drive north via I-65 and the Cumberland Parkway. RV drivers should expect rolling terrain, some steep grades on secondary roads approaching the lake, and winding park access roads, so take the main US 127 or KY 90 corridors rather than shortcuts. The nearest commercial airports for fly-and-rent are Lexington (LEX) and Nashville (BNA).
