Late spring through early fall is the prime window, with May, June, and September offering warm lake temperatures, open swim beaches, and all campgrounds and concessions in operation. July and August bring the busiest boat traffic and highest temperatures, so reservations should be booked well ahead for holiday weekends. Shoulder seasons in April and October are excellent for RV travel, with mild days, cooler nights, fall color, and fewer crowds, though some concessions and the marina may operate on reduced hours. Winter stays are quiet and scenic, but expect limited services and potential cold snaps.

Ozark Caverns is a guided, lantern-lit show cave on the southwest side of the park featuring the Angel Showers formation and a small nature center. Tours are seasonal and suitable for most fitness levels, with an adjacent parking area large enough for trucks and tow vehicles. mostateparks.com/park/lake-ozarks-state-park
This roughly 13.5-mile multi-use loop traverses oak-hickory forest and lakeside ridges, with sections open to hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. A staging lot with room for trailers and larger vehicles serves the equestrian trailhead.
Two designated swim beaches on the Lake of the Ozarks give campers easy, no-fee access to sandy swim areas and day-use picnicking. Both beaches have paved lots suitable for tow vehicles, and nearby boat ramps make them useful staging points for paddleboards and small boats.
Honey Run is a short, easy hiking loop of about 0.9 miles near the Grand Glaize area, good for a quick leg-stretch from camp. The trailhead sits along a well-paved park road with room for standard tow vehicles.
Rocky Top is a roughly 2-mile hiking loop that climbs a ridge for views over Grand Glaize arm of the lake. The route is rocky and rolling but manageable for most hikers, with trailhead parking near Campground 1.
Coakley Hollow is a flat, roughly 1-mile interpretive loop with a boardwalk through a rare Ozark fen wetland near Ozark Caverns. The trail is accessible for most visitors and shares the caverns parking area with ample space for RV tow vehicles.
The park public marina and multiple boat ramps provide direct access to Lake of the Ozarks for fishing, waterskiing, and paddling. Rental boats and fuel are available seasonally, and paved staging areas accommodate trucks with boat trailers.
This self-guided paddling route connects coves and points along the park shoreline, ideal for kayaks and paddleboards launched from the swim beaches or boat ramps. Calm-morning paddles are recommended in summer to avoid heavy boat wakes.

Lake of the Ozarks State Park, MO, United States
The park is in central Missouri near Kaiser, about 40 miles southwest of Jefferson City, roughly 170 miles (about 3 hours) west of St. Louis via I-44 and US-54, and about 180 miles (3 to 3.5 hours) southeast of Kansas City. RV drivers reach the park via US-54 and Missouri Route 134, both of which handle large rigs well, but interior park roads are hilly and winding with some tight turns near boat ramps and the Ozark Caverns area. Watch for steep grades on secondary routes and low-clearance service drives, and use caution on narrow lakeside loops when towing. The closest full-service airport for fly-and-rent trips is Kansas City International (MCI), with St. Louis Lambert (STL) and Springfield-Branson (SGF) also within reasonable driving distance.
