Late June through early September offers the warmest, driest weather and the best conditions for swimming, paddling, and picnicking on the lake. July and August are peak months, so weekday visits help avoid full parking lots. Shoulder months of May, June, and September bring cooler temperatures with fewer crowds and easier day-trip parking for larger vehicles. Winter visits are quieter but often wet, with soggy fields and shorter daylight hours.

Two designated swimming beaches sit on the southern shore of Lake Sammamish with sandy entry, roped swim areas, and lifeguards during peak season. Large day-use lots and restrooms serve both beaches. Bring sun shade because the beaches are mostly open turf and sand.
The park operates a boat launch with ramp access to Lake Sammamish for motorboats, sailboats, and paddlecraft. A concessionaire typically rents kayaks and paddleboards during summer. Kiteboarders and windsurfers also use the south end of the lake when winds pick up.
Flat, family-friendly paths loop through meadows, wetlands, and riparian forest along Issaquah Creek. Interpretive signs describe salmon habitat and restoration work. The trails connect picnic areas with both beaches for an easy park circuit.
The park protects significant wetland and creek habitat at the south end of Lake Sammamish that supports eagles, osprey, herons, waterfowl, and returning salmon. Early morning visits in spring and fall are best for species variety. Bring binoculars and stick to designated trails.
Several covered picnic shelters with tables, grills, and nearby restrooms can be reserved through Washington State Parks for groups. Open turf areas host volleyball, soccer, and flying disc games. Shelters are a short walk from main parking areas.
The paved regional East Lake Sammamish Trail runs along the lake's eastern shore and can be accessed from the Issaquah area near the park. Riders can link to the Issaquah-Preston Trail and longer King County routes. Bike parking is available near the park entrance.
In fall, Chinook, coho, and sockeye salmon return up Issaquah Creek through the park to the nearby Issaquah Salmon Hatchery. The creekside paths offer viewing spots during the run, typically September through November. The hatchery itself is a short drive away and free to visit.
Beautiful motorhome. Very clean. Well stocked kitchen, camp chairs etc. Made for a perfect week long getaway with family.

Lake Sammamish State Park, WA, United States
The park sits just off Interstate 90 at Exit 15 in Issaquah, about 17 miles east of Seattle and a 20 to 30 minute drive without traffic. Bellevue is roughly 10 miles west, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is about 30 miles southwest for fly-and-rent trips. RV drivers should expect heavy congestion on I-90 during commute hours and summer weekends, and should note that the park is day-use only with standard paved lots, so oversized rigs should plan their turnaround carefully. There are no steep mountain passes or tunnel restrictions on the direct approach from the Seattle metro area.
