Spring and fall, roughly March through May and September through early November, offer the most comfortable RV weather with warm days, cool nights, and lower humidity. Summer brings hot, humid conditions and the busiest boating and fishing weekends, so reservations fill quickly. Winter stays are possible thanks to the mild central South Carolina climate, though some park services run on reduced hours. Spring fishing for crappie and striped bass is a major draw for shoulder-season RV travelers.

Lake Wateree is a 13,000-acre reservoir on the Catawba River known for largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, and catfish. The park has a lighted fishing pier, a tackle shop, and bank access from several campsites.
The park operates a public boat ramp with trailer parking, making it an easy put-in for powerboats, pontoons, kayaks, and canoes. Calm coves near the park are popular for paddlers.
This short loop trail winds through pine and mixed hardwood forest along the lakeshore. It is a level, family-friendly walk good for stretching your legs after a drive.
Shaded picnic areas sit near the water with tables and grills. The picnic area is a quick stop for RV day-trippers who are not staying overnight.
The lake and surrounding Piedmont forest support herons, ospreys, bald eagles, and migrating waterfowl. Dawn and dusk along the shoreline are prime viewing times.
Casual swimming is allowed in designated lake areas with no lifeguards on duty. Water levels and clarity vary with reservoir operations, so check conditions before entering.
Congaree National Park, home to the largest intact old-growth bottomland hardwood forest in the southeastern United States, is roughly an hour south of the park. It makes an easy side trip for RV travelers basing at Lake Wateree.
Rhoda was very easy to work with. Everything that was needed for our trip was there. We only had to pick up and drop off. Very smooth process!!

Super easy booking and Jeremy was very responsive to all my questions as a first time rv renter. It was all very smooth and super convenient with the delivery option. They were there and set up before we even arrived. The camper was also super nice with a lot of upgraded features. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others!!

Lake Wateree State Park, SC, United States
The park sits near the community of Winnsboro, South Carolina, roughly 50 miles and about an hour north of Columbia via I-77 and US-21, and about 90 miles south of Charlotte, North Carolina. RVers typically exit I-77 and follow state highways through rural, lightly trafficked roads, so watch for narrow shoulders, rural railroad crossings, and a few low-clearance rural bridges on the final approach. There are no mountain passes or tunnels to worry about, but grades near the lake access road can be steep and winding in spots. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE), with Charlotte Douglas International (CLT) as a larger alternative.
