Late June through August is the prime window for RV travel, with warm days, reliable swimming and paddling on the reservoir, and all campground facilities open. Early autumn, especially mid September into early October, brings cooler nights and vibrant foliage along the Green Mountains, making it a favorite shoulder season for RVers. Spring visits can be muddy and black fly season runs from mid May into June. The park typically closes its campgrounds in mid October and does not operate as a winter campground.

The park beach on Waterbury Reservoir is a sandy swim area with picnic tables and restrooms near the RV parking area. It is the easiest way to enjoy the water with family in tow.
Rent or launch a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard to explore the long, forested shoreline of Waterbury Reservoir. Remote paddle-in campsites sit along quieter coves farther from the main beach.
This moderate loop follows Stevenson Brook past stone foundations, cellar holes, and a small cemetery that remain from the abandoned Ricker Basin community. Interpretive signs tell the story of the lost farming settlement.
Hedgehog Hill is a short to moderate wooded hike that climbs from the campground area to viewpoints over the reservoir and surrounding hills. It is a good choice for a half-day outing from an RV base.
Dalley Loop is a gentle multi-use trail that winds through former farmland and woods, passing more CCC-era and homestead remnants. The wide, graded tread suits casual walkers and families.
Waterbury Reservoir offers fishing for bass, perch, and trout from shore or boat. A state fishing license is required, and a boat launch is accessible from the park.
The village of Stowe and the Mount Mansfield area sit about 30 minutes north of the park and make an easy day trip by tow vehicle. Options include the Stowe Recreation Path, scenic drives, and short hikes below the ridgeline.
The Rv worked out perfectly! This was our first experience! The host was helpful and immediately responsive to any questions. Unit was clean, well maintained and well appointed. Thank you Tim. We hope you will rent to us again.

Little River State Park, VT, United States
The park sits just off Route 2 near Waterbury, Vermont, roughly a 30 minute drive from Burlington and about 45 minutes from Montpelier. From Interstate 89 take the Waterbury exit and follow signs west on Little River Road, a paved but narrow road that climbs and curves up to the park entrance, so drivers of longer rigs should take the final miles slowly. There are no tunnels or major mountain passes on the approach, but steep grades on nearby secondary roads toward Stowe and Smugglers Notch are not suitable for RVs and should be avoided. The nearest major airport for fly and rent travelers is Burlington International Airport, about 40 minutes away.
