Mid-June through late August offers the warmest weather, longest daylight, and the best ocean swimming temperatures in the Northumberland Strait. July and August are peak season, so reservations are strongly recommended for serviced RV sites. Early September is an excellent shoulder window with lighter crowds, cooler nights, and still-mild water. The park operates seasonally and is closed through the winter months.

The park fronts a sandy stretch of the Northumberland Strait, known for some of the warmest saltwater north of the Carolinas. Calm, shallow entry makes it family-friendly.
The park commemorates the Scottish settlers brought to PEI under Lord Selkirk in the early 1800s. Interpretive signage and nearby heritage sites on Belfast Road tell the story of this community.
Point Prim Lighthouse is Canada's oldest round brick lighthouse and sits about 15 minutes west of the park. The coastal drive has pull-offs suitable for medium RVs and tow vehicles.
Wood Islands is home to a provincial museum lighthouse and the PEI to Nova Scotia ferry. The site is a short drive east of the park and offers ample RV-friendly parking.
The Belfast shoreline and nearby wharves are popular for saltwater fishing and clam digging at low tide. A provincial fishing licence is required for freshwater species in nearby rivers.
Quiet rural roads around Eldon and Belfast offer rolling cycling routes through farmland and along the coast. Riders can base out of the campground for out-and-back loops.
PEI's capital is about 40 minutes west and offers Province House, Victoria Row, and a working harbourfront. Designated RV and bus parking is available near the waterfront.

First time renting a trailer and had a great first experience. The owners provided so much more than what is listed in their listing. From small kitchen appliances, cleaning supplies, dish ware, down to dvds for the dvd player. I could not have rented from better hosts. You will not be disappointed.

Lord Selkirk Provincial Park, PE, Canada
The park sits off Route 1 in Eldon, roughly a 40 minute drive east of Charlottetown and about 15 minutes from the Wood Islands ferry terminal that connects PEI with Nova Scotia. From the Confederation Bridge at Borden-Carleton, the drive is approximately 90 minutes via Route 1. RV travelers should note that PEI has no mountain passes or tunnels, but coastal secondary roads can be narrow with soft shoulders, and the Confederation Bridge has wind restrictions for high-profile vehicles. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Charlottetown Airport (YYG).
