Spring (March through May) is the top window, with mild Hill Country temperatures and bluebonnets and other wildflowers blooming along park trails and pastures. Fall (late September through November) offers another comfortable stretch with cooler days, fewer crowds, and clear skies for touring the ranch and living history farm. Summer brings high heat and humidity, so shaded picnic areas and early-morning trail walks work best for RV travelers. Winters are mild but can see occasional cold fronts; most exhibits and trails stay open year round.

Sauer-Beckmann is a working Texas-German farm preserved as it was in the early 1900s. Costumed interpreters carry out the day-to-day activities of an early 1900s Texas-German farm. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department acquired the site in 1966 and the farm opened to the public in 1975. nps.gov/places/000/sauer-beckman-living-history-farm.htm
The free self-guided driving tour crosses the Pedernales River to the LBJ Ranch district, including the Texas White House area. Visitors must first stop in at the LBJ State Park and Historic Site Visitor Center located on U.S. Highway 290 between Johnson City and Fredericksburg to pick up a free driving pass to the LBJ Ranch. nps.gov/media/video/view.htm?id=F3459C58-D969-4C18-8B1A-31CD4A8E06FB
A network of easy nature trails begins near the Exhibit Hall and Visitor Center. The nature trails, including a Hill Country botanical exhibit, wind past wildlife enclosures with bison, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and longhorn cattle, and from the trailhead one trail crosses the open landscape of seasonal wildflowers. Another trail, closer to the Exhibit Hall, is mostly forested and heads east to cross a non-perennial creek and ends at the living history farm. nps.gov/places/000/lbj-state-park-nature-trail-trailhead.htm
The Exhibit Hall interprets Hill Country life alongside memorabilia from President Johnson's time in office. The exhibit hall contains memorabilia from President Johnson's presidency and interactive displays about the land and people that shaped a president. Connected to the exhibit hall by a covered walkway is the Behrens Cabin, a two-room dogtrot cabin built by German immigrant H.C. Behrens during the 1870s, with furnishings typical of such homes in that period. nps.gov/places/000/lbj-state-park-exhibit-hall.htm
Dedicated enclosures give travelers an easy chance to see native Hill Country wildlife. Farther into the park, visitors can see firsthand the bison herd, icons of the American West that once freely roamed Central Texas, today living as a valued and protected cultural icon. nps.gov/media/video/view.htm?id=F3459C58-D969-4C18-8B1A-31CD4A8E06FB
Night skies over the ranch are protected for dark-sky viewing. For fans of night sky viewing, the ranch district serves as an official International Dark Sky site, and the Junction School provides an excellent spot for the public to look at stars outside of park hours. nps.gov/media/video/view.htm?id=F3459C58-D969-4C18-8B1A-31CD4A8E06FB
The historic Danz Cabins preserve a glimpse of 19th-century Hill Country homesteading. One trail travels along the longhorn cattle pen and ends at the historic Danz Cabins. nps.gov/places/000/lbj-state-park-nature-trail-trailhead.htm

We had a fantastic time camping with this camper. It was perfect for my family of 4 and really we could have had more. We will definitely be renting from Matt again. He was prompt with the setup and pick up and very easy to get ahold of. I highly recommend using them!

This RV was awesome! Joseph and Bekah delivered it and set it up. They even made the bed, provided linens/towels, pots and pans, dishes, a coffee pot…. We are cooks and their knives are better than ours! We will rent this RV again!
