Late June through early September offers the warmest ocean temperatures, longest daylight, and full services including lifeguard supervision and the canteen. July and August are peak months and the parking lot fills on sunny weekends, so arriving early is wise for larger RVs. September is an excellent shoulder season with mild days, fewer crowds, and good birdwatching on the adjacent marshes. Spring and late autumn bring cool winds off the Bay of Fundy and limited services.

Mavillette Beach is a long, wide stretch of fine sand that extends dramatically at low tide, ideal for walking and shell hunting. The flat, firm sand makes it easy for all ages and mobility levels.
A short wooden boardwalk crosses the protected dune system from the parking lot to the beach. Interpretive views highlight fragile marram grass habitat and nesting birds.
The shallow, gently sloping beach warms quickly on an incoming tide, making it one of the milder ocean swimming spots in Nova Scotia. A supervised swimming area operates during peak summer months.
The salt marsh and dune environment behind the beach attracts shorebirds, waterfowl, and raptors. Bring binoculars for migration season viewing from the boardwalk and adjacent trails.
The west-facing beach is one of the best sunset spots on the Acadian Shore, with unobstructed views over the water. Evenings are popular with photographers and picnickers.
A short drive south along the coast leads to the Cape St. Marys lighthouse and viewpoint. The cliffs offer dramatic Bay of Fundy scenery and seabird viewing.
Mavillette sits along the Evangeline Trail through Clare, home to Acadian culture, the Église Sainte-Marie at Church Point, and local seafood restaurants. The scenic Highway 1 drive pairs well with a beach day.

Mavillette Beach Provincial Park, NS, Canada
The park sits just off Highway 1 about 35 km north of Yarmouth, a drive of roughly 30 to 40 minutes, and about 70 km southwest of Digby, roughly one hour. From Halifax it is approximately 300 km via Highways 101 and 103, a drive of three and a half to four hours. Access roads are paved provincial highways with no tunnels or major mountain grades, but the final approach on Cape St. Marys Road is narrow with a tight turn into the beach parking lot, so long fifth wheels and Class A motorhomes should take the entrance slowly. The closest airports for fly-and-rent trips are Yarmouth (YQI) for regional service and Halifax Stanfield International (YHZ) for major carriers.
