Late June through August is the prime window for RV travelers, when the state beach is fully staffed, the chairlift runs, and forest trails are dry. September and early October bring cooler temperatures, thinner crowds, and strong foliage color across the Sunapee region. Winter draws skiers to the resort, but the state beach closes and many nearby campgrounds shut down. Late spring can be wet and muddy, with blackflies common in the woods.

The state beach is a sandy swimming area on the southern shore of Lake Sunapee with lifeguards in season, a bathhouse, picnic tables, and grills. It is a short drive from the mountain base area and has its own paved day-use parking lot that fits RVs.
In summer and fall the resort runs a scenic chairlift from the base lodge to the 2,726-foot summit, with views over Lake Sunapee, the Green Mountains, and the White Mountains. RV travelers can park in the base lodge lot and ride up without hiking.
The Summit Trail climbs roughly 1.6 miles from the base lodge to the top of Mount Sunapee with about 1,500 feet of elevation gain. It is the most direct hiking route to the summit observation deck.
From the summit, the Andrew Brook or Newbury Trail connections lead to Lake Solitude, a small alpine tarn below the dramatic White Ledges cliff. It is a classic Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway viewpoint and a popular half-day hike.
Mount Sunapee is the northern terminus of the 50-mile Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway, a long-distance hiking trail through central New Hampshire. Day hikers can sample the first miles south from the summit for ridge views.
Lake Sunapee is a clear 4,085-acre lake known for lake trout, landlocked salmon, and smallmouth bass. A public boat ramp at the state beach area provides access for small powerboats, kayaks, and paddleboards.
Mount Sunapee Resort operates the state-owned ski area with more than 60 trails and multiple lifts from December through early April. The base lodge has large plowed lots that accommodate RVs for day use.
Each August the base area hosts the nine-day League of New Hampshire Craftsmen's Fair, the oldest juried craft fair in the country. Expect heavy traffic on Route 103 and arrive early for parking.
Don was great and easy to work with. The Van was great and just as expected.

Mount Sunapee State Park and State Beach, NH, United States
The park sits off NH Route 103 in Newbury, about 40 miles northwest of Concord (roughly a 45-minute drive) and about 95 miles from Boston, Massachusetts (about two hours). From I-89, Exit 9 leads to Route 103 west into the park. The access roads are standard two-lane state highways with no tunnels or extreme grades, though the final approach to the mountain lodge is a steady climb that larger RVs should take slowly. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, roughly 60 miles southeast.
