Late April through early June and mid-September through late October are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and active fall color along the Tennessee River. Summer brings hot, humid days in the 90s Fahrenheit and is peak season for swimming and boating, so reservations fill quickly on weekends. Winter visits are quieter and the park stays open, though overnight lows can drop below freezing and some facilities operate on reduced schedules. Spring rains can occasionally flood low-lying riverside areas.

The park maintains a network of multi-use trails totaling roughly 8 miles through hardwood forest and along river bluffs. Loops such as the Day Loop and Eagle Point Trail offer short to moderate day hikes with views of Kentucky Lake. Trailheads are accessible from the main park road with RV-friendly pull-through parking. tnstateparks.com/parks/mousetail-landing
Mousetail Landing offers direct access to Kentucky Lake, one of the South's top fisheries for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. Anglers can launch from the park's boat ramp or fish from the shoreline. A valid Tennessee fishing license is required. tnstateparks.com/parks/mousetail-landing
The park boat ramp provides launch access to the Tennessee River impoundment for motorboats, kayaks, and canoes. Sheltered coves near the landing are well-suited to paddlers, while the main channel is popular with anglers and pleasure boaters. Trailer parking is available near the ramp. tnstateparks.com/parks/mousetail-landing
A designated swimming area on the reservoir offers seasonal lake swimming during the warmer months. The area is unguarded, so visitors swim at their own risk. Picnic tables and restrooms are nearby for day-use families. tnstateparks.com/parks/mousetail-landing
Picnic shelters and open tables are set among mature hardwoods near the river. Several shelters are reservable for group use, and parking areas accommodate tow vehicles after dropping trailers at camp. Playgrounds and open lawns suit families traveling with kids. tnstateparks.com/parks/mousetail-landing
The park's mix of river, forest, and ridge habitats supports white-tailed deer, wild turkey, bald eagles, and a variety of songbirds. Early morning and dusk along the trails and shoreline are prime viewing times. Binoculars are recommended for eagle watching in winter. tnstateparks.com/parks/mousetail-landing
Mousetail Landing hosts a public archery range for visitors with their own equipment. The range offers a quiet, family-friendly activity close to the campground. Check at the park office for range hours and safety rules before use. tnstateparks.com/parks/mousetail-landing

Mousetail Landing State Park, TN, United States
The park sits along Highway 438 on the Tennessee River, about 10 miles northeast of Linden, Tennessee, and roughly 95 miles (about 2 hours) west of Nashville via I-40 and TN-13. Jackson is about 65 miles (1.5 hours) to the west, and Memphis is approximately 145 miles (2.5 hours) southwest. RV drivers should expect narrow, winding rural two-lane roads (TN-13 and TN-438) with rolling hills and a few steep grades as they approach the river bluffs, so reduce speed on descents and check overhead clearances at rural bridges. Nashville International Airport (BNA) is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers.
