Late June through August is the best window for RV travel, when the campground and supervised beach are fully open and daytime highs are warm enough for swimming in the cool Fundy waters. July and August bring the busiest weekends, so midweek stays and advance reservations are recommended. Early June and September offer quieter shoulder-season camping with cooler nights and fewer crowds, though beach supervision and some services wind down outside peak summer. The park typically closes for the winter, so plan RV trips between late spring and early fall.

New River Beach is a long, sandy crescent beach with a supervised swimming area during summer months. The gently sloping sand and tidal pools make it a favourite for families, though Bay of Fundy water stays cool even in August.
Barnaby Head Trail is a coastal hiking loop that follows rugged shoreline cliffs and passes through Acadian forest. The full loop runs several kilometres with moderate terrain and expansive views of the Bay of Fundy.
Tidal pool exploration along the rocky edges of the beach reveals sea stars, periwinkles, crabs, and seaweed exposed at low tide. Check local tide tables before heading out and wear sturdy footwear on slippery rocks.
The day-use area offers picnic tables, shelters, and washroom facilities steps from the sand. It is a convenient stop for RV travellers on Route 1 who want a beach break without setting up camp.
Birdwatching along the shoreline and wooded trails turns up shorebirds, gulls, cormorants, and songbirds typical of the Acadian coast. Spring and fall migration add variety for patient observers.
Beachcombing at low tide uncovers driftwood, shells, and sea glass along the wide sand flats. The shoreline also delivers long summer sunsets over the bay.
Cycling the paved park roads is a relaxed way to explore the campground loops and day-use areas. Traffic is slow and the route connects easily between the beach, trailheads, and camping sections.
Perfect little camper! Great communication! Was a perfect experience for my wife and I!

Caroline was nice, pickup and dropoff went well, the layout of the trailer was a bit odd to me but it towed nicely and got the job done.

New River Beach Provincial Park, NB, Canada
The park sits just off Route 1 on New Brunswick's Fundy coast, roughly a 45 to 60 minute drive west of Saint John and about an hour east of St. Stephen and the Calais, Maine border crossing. Route 1 is a modern four-lane highway well suited to RVs, with gentle grades and no tunnels or low-clearance restrictions on the main approach, though drivers should watch for fog, crosswinds along the coast, and wildlife at dawn and dusk. Saint John Airport (YSJ) is the nearest option for fly-and-rent travellers, while Fredericton (YFC) and Halifax Stanfield (YHZ) are larger alternatives within a half-day drive. From Route 1 take the signed New River Beach exit and follow the short paved access road directly to the day-use and campground entrances.
