Late May through mid-September is the best window, when the South Okanagan enjoys warm, dry summer weather and the campground is open for reservations. July and August are peak months with hot days ideal for swimming and river activities, though sites book out quickly. Shoulder weeks in June and early September bring cooler nights, lighter crowds, and excellent birdwatching. Note that the park closes annually on the third weekend of September for the Okanagan Nation Alliance's Salmon Feast, so plan RV bookings around that closure.

A level walking trail runs along the dike on the west side of the Okanagan River through the campground and continues south outside the park boundary. The path is easy and well-suited to a short after-dinner stroll from an RV site. wwwd.bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/okana_fl/
The park offers superb bird watching, with sightings of Western wood peewees, Yellow warblers, Northern orioles and Least flycatchers. Riparian habitat near the campground makes it easy to spot species without leaving the park. wwwd.bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/okana_fl/
The park conserves riparian vegetation that is important habitat for a variety of bat species, including the red-listed Pallid bat. Evenings near dusk are the best time to watch bats emerge and forage along the river corridor. bcparks.ca/sxwexwnitkw-park/
Anglers can fish the Okanagan River adjacent to the park, where an interpretive sign developed by the Okanagan Nation Fisheries Commission explains the historic and present-day fishery. Anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence. bcparks.ca/sxwexwnitkw-park/
Cyclists can ride the park roadways as a relaxed way to explore the campground loop and connect to the surrounding area. Bicycles must keep to roadways and helmets are mandatory in British Columbia. wwwd.bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/okana_fl/
Vaseux Lake Park is a short drive south on Highway 97 between Oliver and Okanagan Falls and offers wildlife viewing platforms, boardwalk access, and a migratory bird sanctuary. Look for California bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and a wide variety of bird species, with viewing best in spring and fall. bcparks.ca/vaseux-lake-park/
sx̌ʷəx̌ʷnitkʷ Park has archaeological and cultural heritage significance to the Osoyoos Indian Band and the Okanagan people, with interpretive signage on the traditional fishery and place names. Visitors can learn about the Syilx name meaning little falls and the area's long history of salmon fishing. bcparks.ca/sxwexwnitkw-park/
First time renting a camper and it could not have gone smoother. The couple minor issues that came up were fixed by Chester quickly and he kept an open line for questions and advice.

Wonderful hosts, great communication and spacious! Christine and Mike were very kind and easy to communicate with. They had the RV set up prior to our check in and even set out an outdoor carpet and chairs for us. Everything worked great. Would definitely rent again!
