How to get to Prairie Rose State Park

Prairie Rose State Park sits in Shelby County, Iowa, about 15 miles southeast of Harlan and roughly 60 miles east of Omaha, Nebraska, a one-hour drive via I-80 and county highways. From Des Moines, plan on about 90 miles and a 90-minute drive west on I-80. Access roads are paved rural routes without tunnels or steep mountain grades, though some final approach roads are narrow two-lane highways, so large rigs should watch for rolling hills and sharp turns. Eppley Airfield in Omaha (OMA) is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent trips.
