Spring, from March through May, offers the most comfortable weather for RV camping, with warm days, cool nights, and reservoir temperatures climbing into swimmable range by late spring. Fall, from mid-September through October, is another strong window, with fewer crowds than summer and pleasant daytime highs. Summer brings intense heat that regularly exceeds 100 F, so RVers relying on air conditioning should plan for heavy generator or shore-power use. Winter is mild and quiet, making it a good shoulder-season option for snowbirds, though nights can drop near freezing.

Quail Creek Reservoir is a warm-water boating destination with a paved boat ramp and parking suitable for trucks and trailers. The reservoir's clear water and consistent afternoon sun make it popular for water skiing, wakeboarding, and paddleboarding.
The reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout in cooler months and holds a mixed warm-water fishery including largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie. Shoreline access is available throughout the park, and a Utah fishing license is required.
Designated swim areas along the shoreline offer warm water and sandy beach access from late spring through early fall. Day-use parking accommodates standard vehicles and tow vehicles.
Zion National Park's south entrance at Springdale is about a 30-minute drive east via SR-9, making Quail Creek a practical RV base for Zion visits. RVers should note Zion's Mt. Carmel Tunnel requires an escort for vehicles over 11 ft 4 in tall or 7 ft 10 in wide. nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/the-zion-mount-carmel-tunnel.htm
The adjacent Red Cliffs NCA offers short, scenic hikes such as the Red Reef Trail through sandstone slot features along Quail Creek. Larger RVs should park outside the recreation area and shuttle in, since the I-15 underpasses restrict vehicle size to 11 ft 9 in. blm.gov/visit/red-cliffs-campground
Sand Hollow State Park is about 15 minutes south of Quail Creek and offers a larger reservoir, sandy OHV dunes, and slickrock riding. The paved access road accommodates RVs and tow rigs.
Snow Canyon State Park, about 40 minutes west near Ivins, features a paved scenic drive through red and white sandstone canyons with pullouts and short trails. The main park road is RV-friendly, though some trailhead lots are tight for larger rigs.
Loved our experience with Sandy from start to finish. He communicated very well, including letting us know about the need to reserve a campsite ahead of time. The camper was very well stocked with kitchen items. The beds were soft and well prepared. They met us when we arrived to set up the RV and explain everything. The weather was very cold and so the water froze one morning. Sandy came right over within minutes and helped us get it going again. Very nice people and very honest. There were extra things we had ordered that we didn’t need so he offered to takeoff those charges. We would absolutely come back and use them again. We were a family with small children and they even agreed that it felt like home. Thank you for a great experience!

Sandy's bunkhouse RV trailer was amazing and had pretty much all the amenities we needed! Sandy was super communicative and helpful throughout the entire process. The delivery/pickup was smooth and easy, would definitely recommend to anyone!

Quail Creek State Park, UT, United States
Quail Creek State Park sits off Utah State Route 9 near the junction with Interstate 15, roughly 15 miles northeast of St. George and about 10 miles west of Hurricane. From Las Vegas it is approximately a 2-hour drive north on I-15, and from Salt Lake City about 4.5 hours south on I-15. St. George Regional Airport is the closest fly-and-rent option, with Harry Reid International in Las Vegas a popular alternative for larger RV rentals. The access road from SR-9 is paved and RV-friendly with no tunnels or steep grades, but travelers connecting to the nearby Red Cliffs Recreation Area should note that its underpasses beneath I-15 restrict vehicle and trailer height and width to 11 feet 9 inches.
