October through April offers the most comfortable weather for RV travel, with lower humidity, fewer bugs, and daytime highs in the 70s F. Summer is peak season for tubing because the 72 degree spring water feels refreshing, but expect heavy weekend crowds, thunderstorms, and high humidity. Spring shoulder months bring blooming azaleas in the gardens and moderate crowds. Winter is quiet, and manatees occasionally enter the Rainbow River from the Withlacoochee.

The main day-use area features a designated swimming area in the spring bowl with clear, constant 72 degree water. Paved paths lead from the parking area to the spring, with changing rooms and a concession building nearby.
Tubing the Rainbow River is one of the park's signature activities, with a shuttle service that returns floaters to the headsprings parking area. The float takes roughly 90 minutes through clear, spring-fed water lined with cypress and wildlife.
Kayak and canoe rentals are available at the park, and paddlers can launch from the headsprings or the campground river access. The slow-moving river is suitable for beginners and offers excellent views of submerged vegetation and wildlife.
Paved loop trails at the headsprings pass man-made waterfalls, azalea plantings, and interpretive signs about the park's history as a roadside attraction. The flat, shaded walks are suitable for most visitors.
The Sandhills Nature Trail is a short loop through upland longleaf pine and turkey oak habitat near the headsprings area. Interpretive signs describe native plants and former phosphate mining history.
Snorkeling in the designated swim area reveals underwater limestone formations, eelgrass beds, and freshwater fish. Water clarity is consistently excellent thanks to the steady spring flow.
The park supports river otters, turtles, alligators, wading birds, and occasional winter manatees. Early morning on the river or along the campground boardwalks offers the best viewing.
The separate campground area provides river access for campers, including a dedicated swim and paddle launch. Sites are shaded and sized for RV use with water and electric hookups.
Great RV and very responsive!

This was our first time renting a camper, we chose MiKasta owned by Alberta. I have to say, that this was one of the most enjoyable times we had. Alberta was a gentleman and awesome host. The camper and service was top notch! We stayed at Santos camp ground which a group of us do every year during Thanksgiving and I can tell you, we will be back and requesting MiKasta again next year for sure.

Rainbow Springs State Park, FL, United States
The park is in Dunnellon, Florida, roughly 20 miles southwest of Ocala (about 30 minutes) and 90 miles northwest of Orlando (about 90 minutes). From I-75, take exit 341 at Ocala and follow SR-40 west and U.S. 41 south to the park entrances. Roads in the area are flat and RV-friendly with no tunnels or steep grades, but the campground entrance road off SW 180th Avenue Road is narrow and winding, so drivers of larger rigs should take it slow. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Orlando International (MCO), with Tampa International (TPA) and Gainesville Regional (GNV) as alternatives.
