Late spring through early fall, roughly May through September, is the best window for RV travel to Red Fleet, when reservoir water levels, swimming, and boating are at their peak. June and September are especially pleasant, with warm days, cooler nights, and fewer crowds than the July and August high season. Shoulder months of April and October are good for hiking the Dinosaur Trackway and mountain biking, though water activities cool off quickly. Winters are cold and quiet, with limited services and occasional snow on park roads.

The Dinosaur Trackway Trail is a moderate out-and-back hike that leads to Early Jurassic dinosaur footprints preserved in sandstone along the reservoir. The trail heads south from the BLM trailhead and enters Red Fleet State Park where dinosaur tracks can be viewed in slick rock, and visitors are asked not to touch or disturb them. From spring to fall, hikers should be prepared with ample water for a half-day hike. muleapi.blm.gov/visit/dinosaur-trackway-trailhead
Red Fleet Reservoir is the park's centerpiece, offering motorboating, water skiing, paddleboarding, and swimming against a backdrop of red sandstone cliffs. A paved boat ramp and day-use beach make it easy to launch from the main park area. stateparks.utah.gov/parks/red-fleet/
Red Fleet is a popular Uinta Basin fishery stocked with rainbow trout and home to largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, and catfish. Anglers fish from shore, boats, and the campground coves year-round, including through the ice in winter. stateparks.utah.gov/parks/red-fleet/
The Red Fleet trail system offers excellent singletrack riding just outside the state park boundary. The Red Fleet and McCoy Flats trail systems together provide approximately 60 miles of mountain biking trails in a stacked loop system where riders can combine trails to add distance and challenge. blm.gov/programs/recreation/mountainbike/red-fleet-trail-complex
The Red Fleet Downhill Flow Trail is a purpose-built mountain bike descent just north of the state park. Opened by the BLM Vernal Field Office near Vernal, the trail lets visitors hone mountain bike speed and technical skills with green (easy), blue (intermediate), and double black (advanced) course options. blm.gov/press-release/red-fleet-downhill-flow-trail-opening
The Red Fleet Flow Trailhead is an RV-friendly staging area for shorter rides and hikes through juniper and slickrock. Tucked among juniper trees, the Red Fleet Flow Trailhead provides access to the single track Jazz Trail and Red Fleet Flow Trail, and amenities include a parking area and toilet. blm.gov/visit/red-fleet-flow-trailhead
Dinosaur National Monument lies a short drive east of Red Fleet and is a natural add-on for RV travelers. The Quarry Exhibit Hall displays a wall of real dinosaur bones still embedded in rock, and scenic drives and short hikes explore canyons along the Green River. nps.gov/dino/index.htm
Red Fleet's remote Uinta Basin location and low light pollution deliver excellent night skies over the red rock battleships. Sunset and sunrise light the sandstone cliffs in deep red and orange, making the campground overlooks a favorite spot for landscape photography.
