July and August offer the warmest ocean temperatures, supervised beach swimming, and full campground services, making them the peak window for RV travel. Late June and early September are quieter shoulder-season options with cooler nights and fewer bugs, though fog can roll in off the Atlantic. The park typically operates from late spring through early fall and is closed in winter. Book well ahead for summer weekends, as oceanfront provincial park sites fill quickly.

Rissers Beach is a long stretch of white sand on the Atlantic coast and the park's main attraction. Visitors swim, surf, beachcomb, and build sandcastles, with lifeguard supervision during the summer. Day-use parking is close to the beach and suitable for most vehicles.
The salt marsh boardwalk is a short, level interpretive trail over the estuary of the Petite Riviere. Panels explain the tidal ecosystem, birdlife, and plants of the marsh. It is family friendly and easy to walk in flip-flops.
The shoreline is a prime spot for beachcombing at low tide. Walkers find sea glass, shells, and driftwood along the sand and among the rocks at either end of the beach.
The park has picnic tables, shaded areas, and washrooms in the day-use zone near the beach. It is a convenient stop for RV travelers touring the Lighthouse Route who want a beach break and a meal.
The Petite Riviere estuary attracts shorebirds, herons, and migrating waterfowl. The boardwalk and dune edges are the best vantage points, especially in early morning.
The UNESCO World Heritage town of Lunenburg is about 30 minutes from the park and makes an easy day trip. Visitors tour the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, the colourful waterfront, and local restaurants.
Highway 331 along the coast is part of Nova Scotia's Lighthouse Route. From the park, drivers can loop through Petite Riviere, LaHave, and on toward Crescent Beach and the fishing villages of the South Shore.
This was our second year in a row renting this trailer and again, we had a great experience! Drop off and pick up were seamless, and Chris made sure we had everything we needed and more to ensure our stay was perfect! Great layout RV for a large family, clean and well equipped. We loved having the Blackstone for delicious meals!

Renting from Jim was fantastic! Communication was great and Jim was flexible on pick up and drop off which helped us out a lot! The RV is amazing, runs like a top, easy to drive, and has plenty of space and features. Would rent again 100%.

The RV was excellent and worked great. The GPS and backup camera were not working but it was no big deal for us. Jim was excellent and very helpful with questions on the phone.

Rissers Beach Provincial Park, NS, Canada
The park sits along Highway 331 on Nova Scotia's South Shore, roughly a 90 minute to 2 hour drive from Halifax via Highway 103, exiting near Bridgewater or Italy Cross and following signs toward Petite Riviere. Lunenburg is about 30 minutes away, and Bridgewater, the nearest full-service town for fuel and groceries, is about 25 minutes north. RV drivers should note that Highway 331 is a narrow coastal road with some tight turns, low-hanging tree cover in spots, and small village sections, so larger rigs should take it slow. Halifax Stanfield International Airport is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers.
