Best time to visit Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park

Late June through August is the prime window, with long daylight hours, warm lake temperatures for swimming and all campground services and the marina in full operation. July and August are the busiest months, so reservations for electric sites fill quickly on weekends. Early June and September are quieter shoulder seasons with cooler nights, fewer bugs and easier site availability, ideal for RVers who prefer solitude. Services and water are typically reduced or shut off after mid-October as winter approaches.

How to get to Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park

The park is about 50 kilometres north of Swift Current via Highway 4, roughly a 45-minute drive, and around 235 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon, a drive of about 2 hours 45 minutes. Highway 4 is a paved two-lane prairie route with no tunnels or mountain passes, but the descent into the South Saskatchewan River valley near the park includes a steep grade where RV drivers should check brakes and downshift. Strong crosswinds on open prairie stretches can affect high-profile rigs, so plan accordingly on windy days. The closest airport for fly-and-rent travellers is Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport, with Swift Current providing the nearest full-service town for fuel, groceries and propane.
