Spruce Run Reservoir is one of New Jersey's top warm-water fishing destinations, stocked with species including largemouth bass, northern pike, hybrid striped bass, channel catfish, and panfish. Shoreline and boat anglers both have easy access, and the park includes a boat launch with trailer parking suited to RV tow rigs.
The park has a designated sandy swimming beach on the reservoir with lifeguards on duty during the summer season. A bathhouse, picnic tables, and shaded grass areas make it a popular day-use spot for camping families.
Spruce Run Reservoir is known for open-water sailing, kayaking, canoeing, and powerboating under the park's horsepower limits. A concessionaire seasonally rents small craft, and the main launch ramp has paved parking that accommodates larger trailers.
The park's lakefront campground offers wooded and semi-open sites suitable for tents, trailers, and smaller motorhomes. Amenities include potable water, flush toilets, hot showers, and direct access to the reservoir for fishing and paddling.
Multiple picnic areas with tables, grills, and restrooms are spread along the reservoir shoreline. Large paved day-use lots handle RV-sized vehicles and make the park an easy midday stop for travelers on I-78.
The reservoir and its wooded shoreline attract bald eagles, ospreys, waterfowl, and migrating songbirds throughout the year. Quiet coves and the undeveloped northern shoreline are the best areas for spotting wildlife from a kayak or from park roads.
The park sits minutes from the historic town of Clinton, New Jersey, with its landmark Red Mill, shops, and restaurants along the South Branch Raritan River. Nearby Round Valley Recreation Area adds more hiking, swimming, and fishing options within a short drive.
Great weekend getaway!

Great vehicle and friendly owners. This compact camper has a lot of creature comforts while allowing one to maneuver and park in regular parking lots. The van is really easy to drive and handles really nice. The beds were comfortable and IMO accommodate 2 adults (top bed) and 1 adult or 2 kids in the lower bed. We were able to use the bike rack, too, and that worked great for a road bike and mountain bike (I think 2 mountain bikes might not fit unless the handle bars were turned on 1 of them). We didn't use the, generator, heater, hot water, shower, sink, microwave or toilet so I can't comment on them but I wish we rented it longer so we could've taken advantage of all this van has to offer. We would absolutely rent again.
