The park sits just east of East Tawas on Tawas Beach Road, about 3 to 4 hours north of Detroit via I-75 and US-23 and roughly 2.5 hours northeast of Grand Rapids. The access roads are flat and RV-friendly with no mountain passes, tunnels, or significant grades, though the final stretch on Tawas Beach Road is a two-lane residential route where drivers should watch for pedestrians and cyclists. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is MBS International Airport in Saginaw, about 90 minutes south, with Detroit Metropolitan Airport as a larger alternative. Check local road conditions in winter and early spring when lake-effect snow can affect US-23.
