October through April offers the most comfortable RV weather at Tickfaw, with lower humidity, fewer mosquitoes, and daytime highs in the 60s and 70s Fahrenheit. Spring brings blooming wildflowers and migrating songbirds along the boardwalks, while late fall delivers colorful bottomland hardwoods. Summer is hot, humid, and buggy, though early mornings remain pleasant and the splash pad draws families. Hurricane season runs June through November, so RV travelers should monitor weather and park alerts when booking.

The park's raised boardwalks are the signature activity at Tickfaw, winding through cypress-tupelo swamp, bottomland hardwoods, and mixed pine-hardwood forest. Interpretive signs identify plants and wildlife, and the flat, accessible route suits all ages. Trailhead parking sits near the nature center with space for tow vehicles.
The on-site nature center introduces visitors to the park's four ecosystems through hands-on displays and live animal features. Ranger programs run on many weekends and school breaks. The paved lot accommodates RVs and trucks with trailers.
Visitors can launch canoes and kayaks from the park's river access to paddle a quiet, cypress-lined stretch of the Tickfaw. Wildlife viewing includes alligators, herons, and egrets. BYO boat or rent in nearby Springfield.
The river and park waterways offer bank and kayak fishing for bass, bream, and catfish. A Louisiana recreational fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older. Access points are a short walk from day-use parking.
A children's playground and seasonal splash pad sit near the day-use area, providing a cool-off stop during hot Louisiana afternoons. The splash pad typically operates during warmer months. Nearby picnic shelters make it an easy family outing from the campground.
Tickfaw's wetlands host alligators, river otters, turtles, and dozens of resident and migratory birds including prothonotary warblers, barred owls, and wading birds. Early morning from the boardwalks offers the best viewing. Bring binoculars and insect repellent in warmer months.
Covered picnic shelters and open picnic tables are scattered near the nature center and along the main park road. Some pavilions are reservable for groups. Paved loops allow RVs and larger tow vehicles to circulate and park easily.
This RV was exactly as described! We utilized the delivery and setup option! The communication with the owner was very prompt and timely! The camper was clean with a great snack basket for us! We also rented the golf cart and it was fantastic! We would definitely rent the camper again!

Excellent experience renting this camper. It was all set up ready to go when we arrived at our camp site and it was very spacious for my family. The outside kitchen with mini fridge and Blackstone grill was very convenient. I cooked breakfast on it both mornings. Thanks for a great experience at Brushy Creek Ranch!
