Late April through early June and September through October are the best months for RV travel, with mild daytime temperatures, lower humidity, and comfortable nights for sleeping. July and August bring hot, humid weather but are the peak season for swimming, boating, and lake recreation, so campground reservations fill quickly. Shoulder-season visitors benefit from quieter campgrounds and excellent fishing, though some marina and concession services run on reduced hours. Winter stays are possible with electric-site availability, but expect cold nights and limited programming.

Tims Ford Lake is a 10,700-acre TVA reservoir known as one of the top smallmouth and largemouth bass fisheries in the Southeast. The park marina offers boat slips, launches, and rentals, with ample trailer parking suitable for RVers towing small boats.
Bear Trace is a Jack Nicklaus Signature lakeside championship course built into the rolling Highland Rim terrain. The clubhouse has a large paved parking lot that accommodates day-use vehicles and standard tow vehicles.
A short walk through hardwood forest leads to an elevated overlook of a quiet lake cove. The trail is well marked and suitable for most fitness levels.
A paved multi-use trail winds along the lakeshore through the Main Park, linking the campground, marina, and day-use areas. The flat, smooth surface is ideal for casual cycling and strollers.
A wooded hiking loop traverses cedar glades and limestone outcrops typical of the Highland Rim. Expect moderate climbs and occasional rocky footing.
The designated swim area on Tims Ford Lake offers a sandy entry and roped-off zone supervised during the summer season. Changing facilities and picnic tables are nearby.
The historic distillery in nearby Lynchburg is a popular half-day outing from the Fairview area of the park. Tours run daily and large vehicle parking is available off-site in town.

Jeremy was a pleasure to work with. He had some issues with the camper from a previous renter, but communicated these with me in detail. He was very helpful throughout the rental and answered questions. He was an honest and reputable owner. I would rent from him again in a second!! Thank you Jeremy!

We absolutely loved everything about Amber and Trent’s RV- tons of space, super clean, easy to use, and had the essentials. It was the perfect home base for our family weekend getaway. Trent set it up really nicely for us, gave us a quick tour, and was super quick to respond with any questions we had. We hope we get the chance to rent their RV again soon!

Tims Ford State Park, TN, United States
The park is roughly 80 miles southeast of Nashville (about a 90-minute drive via I-24) and about 45 miles northwest of Chattanooga. From I-24, RVers typically exit toward Winchester and follow state highways to the Main Park entrance; roads are generally wide and manageable for larger rigs, with no tunnels or major mountain passes to worry about. Watch for rural two-lane sections with rolling grades, narrow shoulders, and low-hanging trees on some secondary approaches, and avoid shortcut routes through small-town centers. Nashville International Airport (BNA) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, with Chattanooga (CHA) as a smaller alternative.
