April through early June and September through early November are the prime windows, with mild temperatures, blooming or colorful foliage, and comfortable hiking conditions. Summers are hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, though the creek and pool help offset the heat. Winter stays mild by northern standards but can bring freezing nights and occasional ice, so RVers should monitor forecasts. Spring wildflowers and fall color make shoulder seasons the most scenic for photography and trails.

The Bear Creek Outcropping Trail is a short loop that showcases the park's signature moss-covered sandstone boulders and rock shelters. It connects to the historic swinging bridge over Bear Creek. Trailhead parking near the main day-use area can accommodate RVs.
Bear Creek Float Trip is a guided canoe paddle along a scenic section of Bear Creek through the park. Canoes and shuttle service are offered seasonally by the park. It is one of the most popular activities for warm-weather visitors.
The Swinging Bridge is a historic suspension footbridge crossing Bear Creek and a signature photo spot in the park. It links trail systems on either side of the creek and sits near the CCC-era pavilion. Nearby day-use lots have room for larger vehicles.
The park's 18-hole disc golf course winds through wooded terrain with rock features and elevation changes. It is free to play and open during daylight hours. Parking is available near the course trailhead.
The CCC Pavilion and Historic District preserves stone and timber structures built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Interpretive signs explain the park's role in the CCC era. The area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Haynes Lake is a 45-acre lake within the park offering bank and boat fishing for bass, bream, and catfish. Small boats and pedal boats can be rented seasonally. A Mississippi fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older.
The Outcroppings Nature Trail is a longer hiking loop featuring fern-lined ravines, creek crossings, and towering rock formations. It showcases the unusual sandstone geology that makes Tishomingo unique in Mississippi. Expect roots, steps, and uneven terrain in places.
The Natchez Trace Parkway connects directly to the park at milepost 304 and offers scenic, low-speed driving through historic landscapes. The Parkway is ideal for RV sightseeing with no commercial traffic. Nearby stops include Cave Spring and Pharr Mounds.

Tishomingo State Park, MS, United States
The park is roughly 25 miles east of Tupelo, Mississippi (about 30 minutes), around 120 miles southeast of Memphis, Tennessee (about 2 hours), and about 90 miles northwest of Birmingham, Alabama (roughly 1.5 hours). Access is easiest via US Highway 72 to County Road 90, with Natchez Trace Parkway access at milepost 304; note that the Parkway prohibits commercial vehicles but is RV-friendly with lower speed limits. Interior park roads are narrow and winding with some tight turns, so larger rigs should take access routes slowly. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent is Memphis International (MEM), with Huntsville International (HSV) and Tupelo Regional as closer regional options.
