Late spring through early fall, roughly May to October, is the best window for RV travel to Versailles State Park, when the campground is fully operational and trails, the pool, and lake amenities are open. June through August brings warm, humid weather and peak weekend demand, so midweek stays are easier to book. September and October are excellent shoulder months, with cooler nights, lower humidity, and colorful hardwood foliage. Winter visits are possible for self-contained RVers, but facilities are limited and cold snaps are common.

How to get to Versailles State Park

The park sits along U.S. Highway 50 just east of the town of Versailles in Ripley County, Indiana. Cincinnati, Ohio is roughly 60 miles east, about a 75 minute drive, Indianapolis is about 80 miles northwest, around 90 minutes by road, and Louisville, Kentucky is roughly 75 miles southwest. Most approaches use U.S. 50 or Interstate 74 to State Road 129 or State Road 3, which are two-lane rural highways with rolling grades and some tight curves but no tunnels or significant mountain passes, so they are manageable for most RVs. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
