Late fall through early spring, roughly November through March, is the most comfortable window for RV travel with mild temperatures, low humidity, and fewer mosquitoes. Winter weekends can still fill quickly because the spring stays swimmable year-round. Summer brings hot, humid afternoons with near-daily thunderstorms and heavy crowds at the swimming area, so arriving early on weekdays helps. Shoulder seasons in April and October offer a good balance of warm swimming weather and lighter trail traffic.

The main spring basin is the park's centerpiece, offering year-round 72 degree Fahrenheit water for swimming and snorkeling. A paved path leads from parking areas to the spring, and RV parking is available in the day-use lot near the concession.
Kayak, canoe, or paddleboard the spring run and upper Wekiva River, a state-designated Outstanding Florida Water known for alligators, turtles, and wading birds. Rentals are available at the park concession next to the main parking area, with an easy launch from the spring basin.
A short interpretive loop near the spring showcases the transition from wet hammock to dry sandhill habitats. The trailhead sits beside the main day-use parking area, which accommodates larger vehicles.
A multi-mile hiking loop winds through pine flatwoods and sandhill uplands for more ambitious hikers. Day hikers can sample shorter segments from the Sand Lake trailhead near the campground.
The park maintains miles of shared-use dirt roads and singletrack popular with mountain bikers. Riders can stage from the main parking area or directly from campsites.
Wekiwa Springs is known for black bears, white-tailed deer, otters, alligators, and a wide variety of wading and songbirds. Quiet morning walks along the spring run and boardwalks offer the best sightings.
Large shaded picnic areas with tables and pavilions sit near the spring and day-use lot. Pavilions can be reserved for groups, and pull-through parking accommodates tow vehicles and smaller motorhomes.

Wekiwa Springs State Park, FL, United States
The park entrance is near Apopka, about a 30 to 40 minute drive from downtown Orlando and roughly 20 miles from Orlando International Airport (MCO), the closest major fly-and-rent hub. From Interstate 4 or State Road 429, drivers follow local roads through suburban Apopka to Wekiwa Springs Road and the park gate. RV drivers should note that the final approach uses narrow two-lane county roads with low-hanging tree canopy in places, and the park's internal roads include tight turns around the campground loops, so rigs over 35 feet should scout sites in advance. There are no mountain passes or tunnel restrictions on the approach.
