Wyalusing State Park, WI, United States
The park is in southwest Wisconsin off County Highway C, about 7 miles south of Prairie du Chien and roughly a 90-minute, 80-mile drive from Madison and a 3-hour, 175-mile drive from Milwaukee. From Dubuque, Iowa, it is approximately 60 miles north, about 75 minutes by RV. The roads in are paved and generally RV-friendly, but the entrance road and park drives include steep grades and tight curves down to the river overlook areas, so drivers of larger rigs should descend slowly and watch for low overhanging branches. Dubuque Regional Airport is the nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent travelers, with Madison and the Quad Cities as larger alternatives.
Late May through early October offers the most reliable weather for RV travel, with warm days, open campgrounds, and full access to trails and the boat landing. September and October are favorites for fall color along the bluffs and cooler hiking conditions, while spring brings wildflowers and migrating songbirds and waterfowl. July and August are peak season, so reservations should be made well in advance. Shoulder months in April and November can be cool and wet, with limited services at some campsites.

Point Lookout is an easily reached overlook near the Wisconsin Ridge Campground with panoramic views of the Wisconsin and Mississippi river confluence. Paved walkways and nearby parking make it accessible from RV sites without driving downhill. It is a popular sunset and bird-watching spot.
Sentinel Ridge Trail is a bluff-top hiking trail that follows the ridgeline past Indigenous burial mounds and overlooks of the Mississippi River valley. The route can be combined with Bluff Trail for a longer loop. Surfaces are dirt and uneven in spots.
Paddling the Mississippi River backwaters offers a quiet wildlife-rich experience among sloughs and islands. A boat landing inside the park provides access for canoes and kayaks, with a designated water trail leading through marsh habitat. Bald eagles, herons, and waterfowl are commonly seen.
Wisconsin Ridge Campground is the bluff-top campground with several sites overlooking the Mississippi River. It offers electric and non-electric RV-friendly sites, vault and flush toilets, and showers in season. Sites are reservable through the Wisconsin State Parks reservation system.
These connecting trails wind through the park's interior hardwood forest and along old historic routes used by early settlers. They provide a gentler hiking option with less elevation change than the bluff trails. Watch for deer, wild turkey, and spring wildflowers.
Bluff Trail descends from the upper park along the side of the bluffs with steep, rocky sections and seasonal views through the trees. It connects upper overlooks with the lower park area and Mississippi River shoreline. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
Walnut Springs Trail leads through a wooded valley known for excellent songbird and warbler viewing during spring migration. The park sits along the Mississippi Flyway, drawing large numbers of migratory birds each spring and fall. Quiet morning visits are most productive.

We had a great experience renting from Paige and her husband. Everything went very smoothly! Their camper is beautiful and clean. Paige had a basket full of goodies for us upon arrival. Paige was very quick to respond to any questions on the app. Set up was quick and easy! I would definitely rent from them again!!
