Campgrounds and RV parks near Lake Geneva, WI

The signature activity is the Geneva Lake Shore Path, a public footpath that runs roughly 21 miles around the entire lake. Families can hike portions of it from town, Williams Bay, or Fontana without committing to the full loop. Lake Geneva Cruise Line runs narrated sightseeing tours, meal cruises, and the U.S. Mailboat Tour out of downtown. Big Foot Beach State Park itself offers swimming, picnic areas, and short hiking trails on the lake's southeast shore. Day-trip options nearby include Safari Lake Geneva, a drive-through wildlife park, the Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay, and Wilmot Mountain for skiing and tubing in winter. On the Illinois side, Chain O' Lakes State Park adds boating, fishing, and trail access along the Fox River and its connected lakes.

Lake Geneva camping is primarily a warm-season activity. Big Foot Beach State Park is open seasonally from spring through mid-fall, and most private parks in the area follow a similar window. Fox River Recreation in Antioch typically operates from April into late October, and the Kenosha County Fair Association campground runs through the summer season. Summer is peak. Weekends at Big Foot Beach fill quickly because it is the only Wisconsin state park within Lake Geneva's town limits and sits directly on the lake. Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends are the hardest to book. Late spring and early fall trade some warmth for easier reservations, quieter loops, and fewer mosquitoes. Fall brings color along the Kettle Moraine country to the north, while winters here are cold and snowy and most campgrounds close. A Wisconsin State Park System vehicle admission pass is required on all motor vehicles entering state park properties, including campgrounds.

Big Foot Beach State Park sits about two miles south of downtown Lake Geneva, an easy drive but a hilly walk or bike ride. Campsites in the upper loop have a gravel pad, fire ring, and picnic table, and tent sites in the lower loop are a short walk from the vehicle, 30 to 100 feet. Sites have no water or sewer hookups, but 34 have electric pedestals, and a dump station and shower building serve the campground. Firewood is sold at the camp host site near the entrance, and campers should not move firewood from outside the area. Fairgrounds and private parks like Kenosha County Fair Association and Fox River Recreation lean toward open RV layouts with hookups and dump stations, but less tree cover. Mosquitoes can be heavy in midsummer, especially after rain.
