Pine Grove Furnace State Park is a 696-acre campground nestled in the South Mountain region of south-central Pennsylvania, at the northern tip of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Accessible from I-81 Exit 37, the park sits within the expansive Michaux State Forest and serves as a premier destination for RV travelers exploring central Pennsylvania's natural and historical landscapes. Two scenic mountain lakes—Laurel Lake and Fuller Lake—anchor the park, offering swimming, boating, and fishing opportunities. The campground lies directly on the Appalachian Trail, making it a celebrated stop for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. On-site, the Appalachian Trail Museum provides a unique cultural experience, while the park's preserved charcoal-fired iron furnace heritage adds historical depth. Sites feature 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, water connections, a dump station, pull-through sites, and big rig-friendly access, making it well-suited for a wide range of RV setups. Amenities include showers, toilets, picnic tables, grills, and a general store. Leashed pets are welcome throughout the campground. Activities extend to biking, orienteering, wildlife watching, and winter recreation. The park hosts annual events including the Fall Furnace Festival and the Appalachian Trail Museum Festival each June.
