Sica Hollow State Park is a scenic camping destination located 15 miles northwest of Sisseton in northeastern South Dakota, nestled within a landscape of mature oak forests, prairie vistas, springs, bogs, and seasonal waterfalls. Established in 1968, the park features 14 non-electrical campsites as well as a dedicated horse camping area, making it a great choice for both tent campers and equestrian visitors. Picnic tables, drinking water, and vault toilets are available on-site. Outdoor enthusiasts will find 10 miles of multiuse trails open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. The park is also home to the Trail of the Spirits, a self-guided interpretive trail that earned National Recreation Trail status in 1971. Sica Hollow is part of two National Natural Landmark geological features — the Glacial River Warren and Coteau des Prairies — giving it significant natural and historical value. Fall draws visitors for vibrant oak, aspen, maple, and elm foliage, while spring and summer bring wildflower blooms and active wildlife. Birdwatching, geocaching, and snowshoeing round out the year-round recreational options. Pet-friendly and rich in natural beauty, Sica Hollow State Park offers a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path escape in the heart of the Coteau des Prairies region.
