Late June through early September offers the warmest air and water temperatures and the highest chance of supervised swimming. July and August are peak season, when the parking lot can fill on sunny weekends, so weekday visits are easier for larger rigs. Early June and September are good shoulder-season choices for quieter beach days, though the Atlantic stays cool year-round. Off-season visits in spring and fall are possible for beach walks, but services and washrooms are typically closed.

The main draw is a long crescent of white sand with a gentle entry into the Atlantic, suitable for swimming during the warmer summer months. Supervised swimming is typically offered in peak season. Water temperatures stay cool even in August.
Visitors can stroll the length of the sandy beach looking for shells, sea glass, and driftwood, with grassy areas and picnic tables just behind the dunes. The setting is ideal for a midday break on an RV road trip around the Aspotogan loop.
Route 329 forms a scenic loop around the Aspotogan Peninsula, passing fishing coves, lighthouses, and viewpoints over St. Margarets Bay and Mahone Bay. It is a classic South Shore drive that links Bayswater Beach with villages such as Hubbards, Blandford, and New Harbour.
A memorial near the park commemorates the victims of Swissair Flight 111, which crashed offshore in 1998. The quiet site overlooks the ocean toward the crash location and is a short drive from the main beach.
Peggys Cove and its iconic lighthouse sit across St. Margarets Bay, roughly an hour's drive from Bayswater. The village offers granite shoreline walks, a working fishing harbour, and large RV-friendly parking at the visitor centre.
The nearby towns of Chester and Mahone Bay are classic South Shore stops with harbours, galleries, and the well-known three churches view in Mahone Bay. Both are easy RV side trips from a Bayswater base.
Operators around Hubbards and St. Margarets Bay offer guided sea kayak tours along the peninsula's sheltered coves and islands. Paddlers may see seabirds, seals, and the rocky shoreline that defines Nova Scotia's South Shore.
Such a great experience!! The van is equipped with everything you need for an awesome adventure. It’s the perfect space for a couple, especially if you’re planning on bouncing between campgrounds like we did! Bring some dvds with you for a cozy movie night :)

A sweet and simple dry rig! More than ample solar power meant we were able to keep the RV fridge and over-the-bed fan running and our devices fully charged. Because it doesn't carry water storage tanks the rig remains light which helps on fuel! If you are looking for a glamping experience, this is not for you, but if you love the convenience and comfort of an RV coupled with traditional camping favourites like cooking on the tailgate on a propane stove, you will adore this van! The van is super easy to drive unlike larger rigs. The van is well-designed and thoughtfully equipped, with ample storage for your personal belongings. Dean and his wife are wonderful and helpful hosts.

Caroline and her husband were wonderful hosts! They took the time to get us up to speed on their van, and point out what we needed to know. The van came well equipped with stove, camping chairs and even an awning! We great enjoyed our trip in their van!

Bayswater Beach Provincial Park, NS, Canada
From Halifax, Bayswater Beach is roughly 75 to 85 km by road, about a 1 hour 15 minute to 1 hour 30 minute drive via Highway 103 and Route 329 around the Aspotogan Peninsula. From Chester the park is about 25 km, and from Mahone Bay roughly 40 km. Route 329 is a paved but winding two-lane coastal road with tight turns and some steep grades, so drivers of larger motorhomes and trailers should take it slow and watch for narrow shoulders. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), about 90 km to the northeast.
