Late spring through early fall, roughly May through September, offers the most reliable weather for RV travel in the Columbia Valley, with warm, dry days ideal for hiking and riverside picnicking. July and August bring the warmest temperatures and the driest conditions, though they are also the busiest months at the campground. Shoulder months like May, June, and September are quieter and better for wildlife viewing, but nights can be cool and some services may be reduced. Winter travel is not recommended as the campground operates seasonally.

The park has one main walking trail along the Columbia River bank from the south end of the campground, running approximately one kilometre through open grasslands and following a level terrace above the river. Anglers can fish the Columbia River directly from the park. Rainbow trout and walleye are common species in the section of Columbia River running through Beaver Creek Park, whitefish are also present, and brook trout are found in Beaver Creek itself. A valid British Columbia fishing licence is required. bcparks.ca/beaver-creek-park/

Bicycles are restricted to roadways in Beaver Creek Park and are not allowed on trails, though a secondary road winds through farm lands next to the park and can be used by bikes. This makes for an easy, scenic ride suitable for families. bcparks.ca/beaver-creek-park/

Due to the size and swift current of the Columbia River as it runs through Beaver Creek Park, canoeing and kayaking should only be attempted by those with extensive experience. Beginners should instead explore calmer lakes elsewhere in the West Kootenays. bcparks.ca/beaver-creek-park/

Communication should have been 6 stars. Best I’ve ever had! What a treat to have a fresh travel trailer delivered to our camping spot with everything ready. All we had to do was unload our food and clothing, lean back and relax. Great weekend! Thank you.

Beaver Creek Provincial Park, BC, Canada
Beaver Creek Park sits seven kilometres south of Trail on the Old Waneta Road (Highway 22A), with Trail, Castlegar, Montrose, and Fruitvale as the nearest communities. From Castlegar the drive is roughly 30 minutes, while Nelson is about 90 minutes and Kelowna around four hours via Highway 3 and Highway 3B. RV drivers should prepare for mountain highways with steep grades and tight curves across the Monashee and Selkirk passes, and should check seasonal conditions in shoulder months when snow can linger at elevation. The closest airport for fly-and-rent travellers is West Kootenay Regional Airport (Castlegar), with larger options in Kelowna and Spokane, Washington.
